    I am confused what really you want to ask?
    If you talking about Internal Linking, then yes its useful, because if your internal linking is strong then any visitor can easily reach to your internal pages also...

    In the case of Link Building Home Page linking is good. But some go for the deep links.

    Home page is the most important page of any website.. here you target most important keywords.. so it is necessary to get backlinks from other sites and internal linking both on those keywords.
