    What exactly is Ping or Auto Ping and what is it used for? Why are people saying it's good for SEO purposes?

    Pinging means telling the sites your site is updated. IF it is done by any software means then it is auto ping. It is very good for seo prupose

    This is a type of Internet Notification. After RSS generation you can set the PING, so that you will be notified at the time of update.

    Pinging lets the search engines and other sites that are following your blog know that your site has been updated.

    Here is a couple of great free ping tools.
    pingler.com
    pingomatic.com

    I use these tools whenever I setup a new blog. I have been indexed for my keywords and ranked in under 24hours using this method. Give it a shot.
