Google Organic Referals Dropped Off In One Day

I have a site, http://nikonwaterproofcamera.com/ (I actually bought it here), after I purchased the domain a month or so ago, I started adding a lot of content, mostly from yahoo answers and youtube. Traffic started increasing over the first week or two, primarily from google organic searches, then in one day it dropped to nothing. The site is still listed in google, so it hasn't been dropped, but its nowhere near the top anymore for any keywords.

The amount of traffic we're talking about is not a lot, but I was hopeful as daily visits went from about 20 up to around 80 and were increasing daily.

I'm well aware that since February the content farm update made it a lot more difficult to use apis like these which dont offer unique content (I was hit hard on my best site, lost 2000 visitors a day), but I don't understand why traffic was growing, then dropped off below where it was when I inherited the domain. I did do some manual editing as well to fix grammar, change keywords, etc. on some of the content to make it a little more unique.

I'm lost as to what to do / how to resolve, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys

You said that you bought the site here. So at the time of buying did you check the backlinks the site was having??? It might be possible that when you bought the site the owner of the site might have removed the backlinks the site was having from his sources. First confirm that, because this is a possibility.

I didn't check, is it possible to see backlinks if they've already been removed? Whats the best way to check? Yahoo Site Explorer?

Well I don't know if there is a way to check if the links have been removed or not.

Sites like this is exactly what Panda is targeting! Grow a brain and write unique content.

Grow a brain? I told you I just purchased the site, I've had it for one month, so I'm still working on a long term plan. This content is not unique, but its still useful, and aggregating it from multiple sources still makes the site a legitimate and useful resource for digital cameras while I figure out where I want to take it. Stop padding your post count and say something productive. I told you I was aware of the Panda update but am trying to figure out why traffic would increase (post panda) and then drop off in 1 day. Now if you know this to be how the panda update behaves, then thats fine, but thats the type of answer I'm looking for, not "grow a brain". Please don't bother responding unless it's with something helpful.

I guess I was very direct :) Write unique content for your sites and the search engines will thank you for it. How can you expect google to think you have a quality site if you are just syndicating content found elsewhere on the web?

Right, I understand this, and I will get to that eventually. In the meantime I'm just building the site, its still useful for users, especially when I build my own content around it later on.

But this does not answer my question, the problem is my rankings were improving despite panda, then dropped almost completely off in 1 day. Is this standard google behavior at this point since the panda update?

It appears Google did another update (called Panda 2.2) a few days ago. There is a thread about that in this forum.

Ah, I did see a slight increase in another one of my sites recently, probably from this update also. Thanks guys, it makes more sense now, hadn't heard about 2.2.

    Another Panda victim. =)
I don't see how you expect to do anything when your getting content from other sites. You have had it a month so you could have written 30 articles by now at one a day.

I added some yes, but the existing pages already had them also. Can this affect my google results?

I think the panda update is good in a lot of ways, but there is also a place for re-using content. There are tons of high quality, very useful aggregators out there, and all of use them. Theres no reason why a site cant re-use information about a specific topic and put it together in a new and worthwhile way (as long as the content is used with permission). I'd rather see a cool new mashup with 0 unique content than see another site with some amateur writer spitting out incorrect facts, or a site that just spins existing content so its "unique".

I don't have time to devote daily, I work a full time day job and manage 8 sites on the side, plus I'm home visiting my family at the moment.

I have a plugin that makes calls to the api's and posts to wordpress. I manually review things, frequently changing titles and text to make it sound better, but its mostly exactly as it is coming from the API's

I have a very bad experience with adding clickbank links to my blog posts. Never add links to your blog posts even if they are redirected with 302 or nofollowed.

You like to talk down on people don't you... I do more than fine, I've been doing this for a while and its working out well. If you paid attention, the question I asked was if anybody had any ideas what happened to the traffic on this site, and the Panda 2.2 response seems to be the answer. I appreciate any and all advice, and I do listen quite well, but telling me I'll never make it is not helpful. I'm fully aware that unique content is ideal; I've more than acknowledged that it in this thread, and for my top sites I generate everything on my own, but there are other ways to do it too, you're just plan wrong to think that thats the only way.
