How would I promote forums?

I have a website and I want to build forums for it. My target audience is rock music fans so how would I promote them once they are up and running? I have considered SEO which I will build into my forums and of course there will be internal links from my website to the forums section. I need more ideas on how to promote them! Also, are people really bothered about profiles on forums?

just go to other forums that same audience with your target and advertise on it don't forget this things : what makes you difference .

 

Yes, going to forum of the area niche is good way to market your forum.

You can also comment on blogs of the same niche and put your forum link in them.

 

Join different relevant fan pages (related to rock music) and facebook groups and introduce your forum to them. However, try also to contribute something valuable to the fan pages and groups and not to drop always your forum link so that they would not treat you as spammer.

 

Try to actively make the discussions that interest and curiosity,way to include a resume of your recent articles.

You do social networking promotion and forum posting too. Check out other forums and participate actively in their discussions then yuse your signature to promote your own forum.

 

I say, u will need to make it no follw, for sure, cz it will protect your PR, and then get your website better in SEO. another thing is meta tags. it is as important as well.

 

There are forums that are simply used for post exchanges and I think forumpromotion.com is one if that one is still around. Google "post exchange forums" and there should be plenty around.

Advertise on forums without spamming links. Slowly drop your forums name every so often, but make sure you give them a reason to go and stay on your forum opposed to other more established forums already in existence.

I also found a great way if I'm lucky. There is this national/local radio station in my country that focuses on the same sort of music that these forums are going to be about and they have a competition to win a free advertising campaign. I'm going to enter that!

Nice idea to post your forums is that , the first few posts can be built by paying the users and stop payment after reaching some level and then afterward , users automatically gets interested in your forums and start posting , it works..

Add a blog to your website to promote the forum. You can maybe blog about the best topic of the week, month, etc. I have found that a blog is one of the easiest ways in promoting something new.
