Looking for some tips on promoting my website ( event/music industry)

    Hello,

I'm a 20 year old business student from the Netherlands and just started my first company.
For the past 2 years I have been busy with starting this company ( market research, business plan etc). The website was put online on Friday. In the past I have been busy with promoting/marketing but not that much with the internet/websites. So I could really use some tips.

My website is an online booking platform for artists, ranging from singers to magicians. I'm focussing on the Netherlands,Belgium and the UK currently. My website has been build by a professional webdesign company.

The past couple of days I already have added my website to the large search engines like Google and Yahoo. I also send out a press release to media focussing on the music industry ( no reaction so far).

I'm looking for tips on what more I can do to promote my website?

Just to get the name out there, an email/direct mail campaign might not be a bad idea. Though you would have to be willing to spend some money, and in your case, I would really make sure that I had my target audience narrowed down. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the tip. I have considered direct mail in the past. My concern with it is that people will see it as spam. So how can I send direct mail without people seeing it as spam?

Well there are some people who will chose to only look at it as spam, but if you have your direct mail campaign managed by professionals you can get a good response. Obviously an email or mail piece that looks poor, will register as spam for most people. That also means you have to have your target audience narrowed down, your in the music business, so either make your own list or purchase a list, of known customers of the music industry. They will have a much better chance of responding to your mail piece than anyone else. The more precise and direct your mailing list, the better.

I think you should learn different ways to link build your website.

For your theme i think the best way to promote it is through various social networking website like facebook and myspace.
