    Hi,

I have recently started an ecommerce site and am looking for general ways to increase the conversion rate of visitors to sales.

Interested to hear your ideas on this one.

    Thanks

Do you have a special offers opt in form?
Maybe giveaway a free digital product and coupon to get them to sign up. Then offer various discounts on a few products.

Have you compared the look and feel of your site compared to other professional eCommerce sites?
Would love to check your site out man see how I can help. Been thinking about getting into eCommerce my self. Mostly do review sites with affiliate links to physical products. I don't like amazon though. Only 24 hour cookie.

Thing that can help you improve your conversion rate will be quite dependent on the niche your ecommerce site is. Sometime, just changing a call to action button from say "buy now" to say "add to basket" could improve your conversion rate. Definitely optimising you landing page will increase conversion rate, the payment gateway you choose will also improve conversion rate... in effect, its a lot of several little things many of then are particular to your business. One cannot give you definite tips unless one know your site.

    Good luck

You should have a good checkout process such as Magento one-click checkout. It makes the checkout process simple, convenient, friendly, and quick skipping through the unnecessary steps thus reducing your customer to abandon their carts. Another is gave someone write good reviews about your products that will surely attract customers.

    Cheers!

Totally agree with you. The payment process has to be very simple and fast. Also I would like to add that the order page has to be branded and it should have security elements to create the feeling of confidence for the customer. Many customers just abandon the cart when they see it's a thrid-party processor, many just ask themselves if they are where they should be.

Also get the security certification done from eTrust or similar website. It will help boost the trust value and authenticity of your website.
