I have a question regarding reseller hosting. Some companies out there offer reseller hosting packages for certain prices with you can onsell the space and bandwidth. The other day however in the sites for sale section I came across a hosting business for sale that was using a vps. Is this recommeded and is it harder to opperate.
Rather than operate a 1GB based unmanaged vps its always best to go with reseller hosting from professional provider. Because theoretically it can be think that vps is best solution rather than reseller hosting but in practically you get more usage from reseller hosting. For example you can run out more than 1gb+ ram under reseller hosting which is on vps you cant. As well there are many optimization need to done on unmanaged vps and its almost hard to operate for newbies. And even your DC will not help you out with any internal script/installation related problem as its unmanaged and they normally help you with hardware related issues only. And if you go with managed vps then the money will kill your budget as well, because you need customer first to pay that off. If you dont have any customers then you just pay all of them from your blank pocket every month to pay the managed vps/dedicated So its your choice which is best for you ... reseller/vps/dedicated
I have seen your company complained at webhostingtalk forum for being copied whmcs design from a web designer
Already been escalated years ago. We already purchased the design from the developer if you are not aware about.
here is one http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-1030274.html So,you got registered your nulled whmcs ?
Well...it looks like lightarena decided to post and then delete what s/he had to say. That's too bad. It was good for a laugh, so I'll put it here anyway: Something I know about? ROFLMAO!! I have run a successful hosting corporation for 15+ years. Thanks for your suggestion though. It's just simple math. It really isn't difficult to figure out. A decent 16GB RAM server with a RAID10 drive config and a good processor is going to run you at the very least $300 per month, and that is going to be on the budget end. If each client uses 1GB of RAM, you'll be able to host maybe 14 clients on that server, after you account for server overhead. With 14 clients, you're talking $21.43 per client per month, and that's just to break even!! If you want to make even $300 profit on that server, you're going to be charging clients almost $43/mo.!!!! I'm willing to bet that if I look at your plans, you'll have some "unlimited" reseller plans for $3.99/mo. or $4.99/mo. or maybe even cheaper than that. Sure...allow those people to use 1GB of RAM and see how long you stay in business. You'll be losing $250+ per month on every single server you own.
Reseller web hosting is much easier to manage and it is more easier if you are dealing with right company. That is really hard to chose decent one and Market is really overloaded but some of them are really decent. At the moment I recommend you checking: http://www.hostdone.com/web-hosting-reseller.htm Good company with good support (that is very important for resellers). I recommend you trying them .
In short, it really all just depends on your needs. A VPS is generally more expensive (depending on weather you want it to be managed or unmanaged). So if you are just starting out, I would recommend going with a basic reseller package. Once you feel you have maxed out your reseller package, then you can look into VPS/Dedicated solutions.
And you are basing this statement off of what exactly? To say that going with a reseller plan over an unmanaged VPS is "always best" is an incorrect. It really all depends on what the user needs. Also, web hosting accounts can perform better than web hosting accounts hosted on a VPS (and vice versa), however it all depends on where the sites are being hosted, hardware specs..location..ect.
Thanks for answering- I was only wondering because there are vps plans for around $6 US per month that had as much space and bandwith as a hostgator reseller. But support would be a big thing and I don't think I could offer it. Also ram is another issue and is you say you can only host 14 clients on 1gb of ram then it wouldn't work.
Your clients should not be using 500mb or even 1GB of RAM. I can't imagine what client would possibly use that much, and what they would use it for, unless they're running highly inefficient scripts, image/video processing scripts, etc. I have no clue what HostGator uses now, but back in September 2010, they had a 64mb limit per client. You should impose similar limits on your clients. If they use a whole lot of RAM, they should be recommended a VPS or dedicated solution. You also have to remember that a $6 VPS is not going to come with a control panel, particularly not cPanel. That is going to cost you anywhere from around $10-15 per month. So your $6 VPS immediately turns into a $16-21 VPS. That said, HostGator's normal price is $24.95/mo for their entry-level reseller plan. While you're not going to get RVSiteBuilder, Fantastico, WHMCS, etc. with a VPS for that price, you could get a VPS that exceeds the reseller account specs (normally by far) for the same price. You're going to get more control, you're going to get dedicated RAM, a bigger chunk of the CPU's processing power, and most likely more disk space and bandwidth. [EDIT] Also, how many clients you can host depends on what they're hosting, as well as what limits you put on them. I currently have a VPS client, for example, running a cPanel VPS with 512mb of RAM (like I said above, I always recommend 1GB, but whatever), and he is hosting 61 accounts, with an average load of 0.00, and anywhere from 25-50% of his RAM free at any given time. In fact, the only time I have ever seen his VPS have an issue is when updating cPanel or recompiling Apache/PHP or such. Then the RAM usage shoots up to its limit.
Centriohost, their website is hosted in hostgator vps and selling out cheap hosting using virpus vps which is having a lot of downtimes. They provide nulled whmcs license to their clients. Trying to be smart here ? huh Take a small reseller hosting first -> upgrade to a good reseller plan -> go for vps -> upgrade to higher plan of VPS -> have multiple vps --> go for dedicated server ---> upgrade --> multiple dedicated servers and YOU ROCK ...
