My site is a year old but still has no PR, why is that? Check it out (it's in my sig) and let me know what I'm doing wrong

Concentrate on the quality of the content of your site. Write articles which are useful and easy to read and also interesting. Make sure your article is unique and original. All articles should be error free. Then concentrate about the quality of backlinks. Make backlinks with dofollow, high PR sites which are in the same niche of your site. Hope you will get PR doing this.

PageRank has NOTHING TO DO with your content!!! It gets higher as you get backlinks from related websites. They work like votes that other sites cast for your site. The more such "votes" you have, the higher your PageRank.
I've checked your site using the Spyglass SEO tool, have found over 2000 backlinks, which is not bad. The good points that I see:
    1. You have lots of links from reputable, high-PR sites like wikipedia and imdb
    2. You have over 2000 backlinks
    3. Most of the pages you have links from are closely related to the topic of your site

    Now, the drawbacks
    1. All wikipedia links are "nofollow" by default, so, unfortunately, they don't help your PageRank in any way... By the way, there is a good video on YouTube called "Two questions about nofollow", you might wanna check it out, it's by Matt Cutts.
    2. You have a lot of backlinks from one and the same domain. It's preferable to be get a few backlinks from DIFFERENT domains than lots of backlinks from one and the same one.
    3. You have some full-fledged backlinks from imdb, but they are reciprocal. It's best to get one-way links, Google trusts them better. Why not post some viral content on your site, do some linkbait, no?

So, the problem that I see is that the good backlinks that could increase your PR are nofollow, so they don't help your PageRank at all. While the backlinks that don't have this nofollow attribute are mostly from webpages with PR 0. Such pages have no PR to pass.
So, I would recommend you to get some links from PR 1-10 pages (cause a domain may have PR4, while the page your link is sitting on is PR 0), make sure they are NOT nofollow, and try to get backlinks from different domains, not just one domain.
Also, there might be a possibility that your site got penalized for something. I think so because some SEOs swear that even though links from Wikipedia are nofollow, they still increase your PageRank...

You need quality backlinks, the age of your site doesn't automatically mean they will give you good PR.

PR is not a big factor instead of PR you need to concentrate on your alexa rank and SERP. Your website current alexa rank is under 1,50,000 which is really good so keep building backlinks of your website. Your PR and alexa rank definitely increase
