Same Blog and Forum Content - is this a problem?

Hi, Im starting to get a lot of original content written for one of my sites. I post the articles on the blog and then post the same content on the forum to create discussions (so its posted twice - both on the blog and the forum)

I know that Google panda doesn't like the same content on different sites but what about the same content on the same domain, how does Google panda view this?

You will most likely not get banned unless it is copyrighted material or something, but the duplicate content will most likely not rank on the site that Google views as duplicated.

Hi thanks for the reply. Its not copyrighted material, there brand new articles just written recently. So you don't see the double posting on the same domain as a major problem? or for caution should I just scrap the blog?

I doubt that's the case. There is multiple content posted on my site all the time(its a forum) from users quoting text.

Not sure which point you are disagreeing with, but I agree with you that if you use a snippet of content then you are ok, but if you duplicate the entire content on multiple pages on a site then Google will most likely view one of the pages as duplicate.

I think it is not related to Google panda, you'd better not do this in the long run, actually, you don't have to post each of your article twice, a blog can also gather a lot of popularity if the content supplied is good.

Thanks for the feed back everyone, so what if I do this. Normally each article is about 4 paragraphs. If I post just a sentence or 2 (a snippet as revium suggested) on the blog with a link to the full article which is posted on the forum, would this be a suitable way to go?? Also I have a site map for both the blog and forum, should I remove the site map for the blog and just use the one for the forum?

Displaying a snippet on the blog and the full content on the forum should not be a problem. Personally, I would probably show the snippet on the forum and the full article on the blog because blogs tend to have more content while forums are more for discussion, but either way should be fine.

Having a sitemap for both the forums and blogs should also be ok, so I would leave them both.
