How much of time and effort?

Referring to messages in this forum, many of AdSense newbies are looking for easy way to make money. That is the same thing many of ebook publishers are selling - easy way to make lot of $$$.

But the reality might be bit different – there is no easy way to make money. Every blog and site needs lot of work before they make (any) money.

So, what I like to ask from you is, how much time and effort you put into your AdSense projects and is it worth of it.

Myself, I work hour or two four or five times a week, together about 30 hours per month and my income has been long time from $700 to $950 a month. To me, it' OK, but could be better.

Adsense is something im still very bad with, Ive found "easy" but unsustainable methods to make money, but I'm trying to grow my adsense earnings because I like the relative security of adsense.
I currently spend ~30 minutes a day with adsense

A good 20 hours/week in the summer and a good 50-60 in the winter... in the summer, it's like I get a lot per hour of work... but less in the winter... more time goes by, more you get out of your sites and more it's profitable. The hard part is to get through the sucky period where you work a lot for peanuts... once that is behind... it usually gets better and better.

The result is directly proportional to the effort put into it. Tried the easy way, it don't work too well.

Here is a poll that shows 38% of respondants only spend 1-2 hours a day working on their sites. That's probably about the same percentage that complain about not making enough money.

Well, i wrote an eBook about my success, and it says it took a LOTTT of time and effort!
There is NO EASY QUICK WAY to get rich quick with Adsense or anything else.. my wife and kid hardly saw me at all the first few months after i started my website.. after the initial investment in time, my absolute minimum time required per day now is about 1 hour - but i usually end up spending more time than that..
Dont forget to factor in frustration, too..

Right now that's what it seems like i'm doing. but I hope all my work will pay off in the future

I spend 1-2 hours a day learning how things work and trying to find places to get my site out there. I could use more content on my site and I constantly think about it. Right now I get about 2 bucks an hour for my work.

I agree... I think of it more as "hobby" or "extracurricular activity" than "work"

About two hours of actual "work" (adding content, responding to emails, site maitenance, etc) a day, and then the rest of the day to "think" about what other groovy website ideas I want to try out. And oh yeah, about 4 hours a day on DP being a total ass (according to some of the PM's I get) :D.

Just do like the duracell bunny and keep going. With time you'll make more, if you keep adding content and researching... it's like invesments, not all of them give big $... at first you make little, but as time goes by, your smile should grow. The thing is you have to keep looking to improve traffic, filter bad ads, find better niche... it's like a heavy flywheel, it's hard to get in motion, but once it's going, it's hard to stop, unless something bad hapens.

I just go with the flow. When I have time and inspiration, I work on it. When I don't, I don't. But then, I already had a large website, with a decent amount of visitors, BEFORE adsense came along. So the only thing that's changed is that now when I have an idea to put something online, I don't shelf it - I do it - because that's where the money is. I've also started to put more of an effort into public relations (read: myspace and similar). I'd say that including reading up on SEO and stuff like that I spend at least one hour a day on it.

Well i'd say i spend about an hour a day with adsense and most likely 10 hours a day running the rest of my business and dealing with my clients. I'm trying to even that out a bit though and be less relient on contract work and more reliant on websites that keep earning...

Of course, the quickest way to adsense riches is buying an existing sucessful site. But you need to have the cash on hand to go that route. And the internet has more than it's share of shady characters so that is a bit of a risk...
