Important discovery adsense and Firefox

    OK
I cannot see adsense on this forum or Plenty of Fish forum or any other website that has adsense ads on.
Why because I have adblocker extension.
Only when I use IE7 can I see adsense ads.
Now I thought this would be very important to Google and wonder why they have not sorted this out to allow ads to be seen with adblock etc?
I wonder how much revenue they lose with this?

I'd say well more than 90% of the world still uses Internet Explorer, and those who have switched over to Firefox probably don't know jack about extensions, much less the adblock extension.

So, revenue probably isn't affected at all.

    Well
I found it and only had Firefox for nine months and I am not that brainy.
I also read the opposite to you reply that many people are converting to Firefox.
I must admit it blocks a lot and is VERY fast.

THere are tons of blocking programs and have been for years including Symantec, etc

They work on ad size so there isn't a whole lot Google can do

Most computer noobs, who will be the primary source of your clicks, will still use IE.

Most people intelligent enough to use Firefox with an extension installed, are probably already adblind in the first place, so it doesn't matter.

I don't think he specifically was calling you intelligent ;)
He said Most, not all. I agree totally. Perhaps you're underestimating yourself.

Actually it is indeed a very impt discovery.. becoz, I just posted in another forum abt google ad.. that "I cant see any ad other than NYC apt"...

and I just checked out on IE, and i can see new ads coming up.. so yes, FF is not supporting adsense .. or sth like that ..

Ad blind and does equal uninterested. If I see an ad google or whatever that interests me, I will click on it to check it out if I feel it warrants a $0.50 click from the advertiser.

I'm on Firefox now, and have been using FF2 as well. Firefox doesn't go out of it's way to block ads. Extensions do that.

I have just taken some intelligence pills and so feel better.

Any adsense staff reps here can contact me to give me my adsense account back because I only clicked six times testing I am not a criminal like others.

Maybe I wouldn't go that far! Jk.

But it's a fact that Firefox users, on average, have more internet experience and those with more experience on the internet are more likely to be ad-blind.

First, no 90% of the world DOES NOT use IE. Currently IE accounts for only around 80% - 85% of users and this has been steadily falling over the past couple of years.

Second, I ran adblocking detection routines on my site for a couple of years and I found that only around 5%-10% of all users blocked ads and that figure did not really change over the two years I tracked it. Based on my expierence I think it is also safe to state that only a minority of Firefox users block ads.

Yes AdBlock and ad blocking in general is annoying, but it isn't a crisis. Let's also be perfectly honest; a lot of people were driven to adopting ad blocking tools because of obnoxious advertisers (e.g. X10 and punch the monkey). In a way we can blame a lot of the desire to block ads on our fellow web publishers who have a scorched earth policy when it comes to what types of ads they will display on their sites.

you should worry about people with javascript disabled, they far outnumber people with adblockers.

I somehow doubt that. I think I read that 97% of internet users have JS enabled, and that was 5 years ago.

    90% ????

Use any descent tracking system like google analytics or BBclone...and you'll get some idea:)

Actually it depends a bit on type of site, and which kid of users its getting...

Say for example a site like digg.com or Dp will get more numbers of firefox users!

My site statistics show that 87% of the visitors use IE and the other 13% are shared with FF and some few others like safari and opera

this doesn't harm your revenue at all specially that the FF ad blocker doesn't block adsense unless you use a special extension

not all who use FF know even what the term "Extension" means in FF language
