    Hey

I use Wordpress and I never use <h1> on my keywords, instead I bold them with <strong>, is that ok?

so why do so many big sites do it? In CMS like Wordpress, you can't h1 every keyword in a post, it would look awful

You would be better off to start a post with an H1 headline that contains your keywords.
It's also a very good idea to include a jpg image, so you can also put your keywords in the image caption, title and alt tags.
Search engines do pay attention to the tags, so you should use them.
If you have other keywords in the body of your posts, bolding them will also be a bit more helpful.

If you want to start using <h1> in your article than perhaps you can make a long article between 1500-2500 words, and every 500 words you can put <h1>.

If you are concerned about the appearance of H1 tags, for example if they look too large, then simply edit your stylesheet to make them a smaller size.

Anything that goes beyond simplicity like bolding, striking, italics or whatever that is, i think it complicates the brain of the search engines to crawl. It make the job harder for the crawler. Just my 2 cents

On the contrary. Google et al understand completely that keywords inside h1 tags are more important than those in h2 tags, etc. They also depend heavily on title and description meta tags to evaluate a web page.

Yes for the Title, Description, meta tags but i don't think for the content will do any better if you bold, strike, or whatever

The content will be better optimized for search engines through the use of header tags, bold and italics to emphasize keywords.

use of strong tags is only effective if it is natural. otherwise it will be detected as spammy

In my opinion. Tag 's very important in SEO. When you put your keywords in <h1> </h1>. Google will consider maybe that 's the main keyword of your page, and can index correctly

Even more effective is to write a compelling headline that includes your main keywords and contain it within the h1 tags.

You only want ONE h1 tag. Never more than one on a page.
Nobody (except Google) knows for sure if bolding helps or not. I personally think it does. And no, you never want to bold every keyword. Once on a page, maybe twice if you have a lot of text, is all you need. It is like everything else with Google and a web page. If used properly, you will be ok. Abuse it, and you can forget it. Just use some common sense. Think about "why" a word is bolded. Why is there only one Title on a page (h1 tag)..
