    Google places letter is simply your site is listed in Alphabetical order in local search in Google. A, B, C means they are on top offcourse and G means your site is listed below them. If you want to get ranking in Local Search, submit your website in Google Local Listing, then submit the site in local directories and put some local keyword. Keep patience, it will take some time but you will get top ranking in Local Search Results.

    classified are good for drawing traffic.. but very few classified sites allow anchor text or click-able links. So cant say it would help in link building and also classified sites displays classifieds for 1 month or 15 days only.

    Classifieds are like advertisements in the local newspapers. Craiglist is the top classified sites. Local listing helps to improve the backlinks of the site and doesn't draw direct traffic to the site.

    it can help for local listings if the classified site lets you list the business address - and allows users to leave reviews. this helps google give credence to the local listing
