Is StumbleUpOn destroying AdSense CPC?

    Hello everyone.

I have been experiencing that everytime I get a burst of traffic
from sites such as StumbleUpOn.com my Adsense CPC decreases A LOT.

I have found that many people have reported the same, calling it "AdSense smart pricing"
which means that if you get a lot of bad converting traffic, such as from
social bookmarking sites, your websites will start showing low bidding keywords.

I usually earn between $1.5-$3.5 per click on my ads, but if I get bursts of traffic
from StumbleUpOn (about 3000 visits/day) my AdSense CTR will go below 0.2% and
my CPC will decrease to only $0.2 or so as well.

    Can anyone confirm this?
Does AdSense really give you shit for having too low CTR?

Because if that is true, then why do we even bother with StumbleUpOn?

I have now deleted some ads and my plugins allowing my
articles to be shared on social networking sites in hope of improvement.

It seems to be a very big and well known problem for most AdSense users.
I will see if there will be any difference within a week.

It is a well known fact that not only StumbleUpon but any kind of social media traffic like Digg, Delicious, SU etc. does not give the best results in Adsense or for that matter sales too. SU visitors normally just stumble the website and leave in a few seconds and that is why their conversion into clicks are the least.

Yes, but I never thought that you could get penalized by adsense for using it.

I guess if advertisers don't see conversions on those clicks, then they would drop their bid prices.

Yup, but why does not AdSense tell you this?
Ans why is there not a simple way to just hide the adsense ad from specific sources?

The visitors from StumpleUpon hardly click on ads and so revenue would anyways be very less. So, how will it anyways make any difference if Google penalizes or not. He was asking about CPC and SU and social traffic has less CPC which is quite well known for all these years.

    What difference it makes?
Well for one you will earn a hundred times less money!

If you get large amounts of traffic to your blog and low amounts of clicks
then you will be penalized and get super low CPC for all clicks, even if they come
from social networking sites or not and even if you are targeting high paying keywords.
