A clear mapping of the thoughts is very much important at the start of a process. It is as important as a blueprint of architecture before starting up the construction. They avoid this path and lead themselves to failure. This article would try to put a light over all the required pillars in a website design. This, at its most basic, is the process of design:
The Website Design Process can be segregated into five phases.
    1) Research and analytics:
Before using the software tools understand the client requirements and research various designs for the client’s products and analyze the requirement to visualize the design.

    2) Visualized Design:
Draw the visualized design in a piece of paper or board before touching Photoshop or any other tool.

    3) Template Design:
Prepare the design now in Photoshop as a template.

    4) Transfer:
Transfer the design to HTML in Dreamweaver.

    5) Testing:
 Spelling (Use MsWord to check the spelling before adding the contents)
 Sentence (Use MsWord to check the sentence before adding the contents)
     Alignment
 Browser compatibility (IE, Chrome, Firefox)
 Check forms for clients correct E-mail Id, contact numbers etc…

Many designers jump directly on designing avoiding the first two steps and mess the whole thing. If you will follow the process carefully you will certainly give birth to a masterpiece. One more thing which needs to be present in a web designer is patience. After all good things take time to come.

that's good info. I usually go by it the way you shouldn't. And you're right, i do get frustrated sometimes.

Also if you do it like you said, with layouting first, it's easier to give different feels to the same layout skeleton. You can use same layout and make it girly or professional looking, so you can cut your work time in half

all true. But you have to be careful not to let the graphics overpower the message/info you're trying to send

I'm glad you agree. Also my internet works great, so i can download heavy graphic pages quickly. But a lot of countries out there (like canada :p), have problems downloading large/many images and stuff like that

In my opinion these steps or similar 'design processes' should always be mapped out on every designer's website. Some clients don't seem to understand how much effort actually goes into web design/research. It's not a quick 'Photoshop, then slice me up' job. Well.. it is for some 'professional' designers =/

Totally agree with the first step. I found I generally have a better idea of what/how I want the site to look after i have mocked up a couple of designs using my trusted pen and notepad. Even though mu final design might not look exactly as i drew it, it helps align my ideas.

Can you make a pull down menu list all the 195 countries that contain the Geographical information, Trip routing or Map images on my web site home page?

I know of 2 websites that we can get the Geographical information that is not copyrighted.
I do not know how to get Trip routing.

One online site gave me permission to use their maps for "Map images" on my web site.

I have not installed skpye or yahooo but I can, you may give me your telephone number.
