Its not really recommended as if you mess up your site could be down real bad. If you want to see what your modification looks like in real time, the closes you get would be firebug which is a Firefox add on. It doesnt really let you change the live files but it at least let you know what the change looks like

If he's just editing HTML and CSS he isn't going to permanently damage his site.

It's also WYSIWYG which generates really messy code, in turn hurting your SEO.

Don't be silly, :p who on earth would be using the WYSIWYG, there is a code tagging and source code editing format also. WYSIWYG is only when you are to lazy or can't be bothered to much. It still can be used ofcourse with min effect to the site's CSS, HTML code validation.

I used Kompozer but takes more than 10 minutes or more after I publish the edit result. Why took very long?

Messy code will NOT effect your seo in anyway! As long as the bots can access your site and read its content the code will not matter.

Regardless to the above I would highly recommend you use Notepad++ and an FTP program such as FireFTP (a plugin for firefox) or CoreFTP if your would rather install an FTP program on your computer rather then use the browser based one.

If you need to learn about html and css have a look at www.w3schools.com as they should have everything you need to learn the basics on both html and css :)

I don't really compare between those too as I am using both. They complement each other. I use Komposer for major changes but if I need a fast quick edit
Notepad C++ is your answer :)

Simply copy and paste it into the location bar of your web browser when you are on any page and you can now edit it. Though this is a cool tool to have some fun, it is dangerous tool used by scamsters to create fake screenshots and websites resembling the original to misinterpret facts and for phishing attempts. So you need to be alert on the web and not believe everything you see…

All paid control panels have their own editors. And backup your whole data otherwise you'll suffer
