What can I do to increase the traffic on my website

I have a relationship website. It's a content based website. I am pretty new to the website biz. My site has very less traffic and I need to start earning to tun the website. I am already using social bookmarking sites and posting comments on blogs. What else can I do to improve the traffic. I don't want to invest in adwords right now. Any other suggestions.

 

Try building back links to your website from authoritative sites.. Do keyword analysis and competitor analysis and see what keywords they are focusing on. Try to get back links from the same source as your competitor is doing.. Try to but high quality contents and make sure there are no excessive ads on your site.. traffic will follow in time.. you need patience
