OK first of all I am really new here and if I am posting in the wrong section and/or breaking rules the please tell me :)

So I recently became an admin a forum and I am having a real hard time getting members. everyone that signs up just posts an introduction thread and never checks back after that. We just have admins and staff members posting threads and nobody even replies to them. Its not even like they are off topic or not many people know about the topic of the thread. Still nobody bothers replying. Me and another admin have posted lots of tuts but nobody replies. We even have giftcards, accounts that you can exchange your points for ( you earn points just by posting, referring members or simply logging on to the site! ). I have tried having graphic contests other contests etc. but nobody is interested.

So please can anyone give me some advice? And I am not like some other people who have a forum for a week and then they quit. I am determined.

If you wanna check out the forum, go to http://techdigy.com

I check you forum seems of be a good forum anyway this is one way of getting users. Secondly you can try different marketing techniques like article marketing, Social bookmarking and similarly Social media networking twitter or facebook to promote your forum. It can bring some traffic to your forum.... cheers....

That's happen on most of the new forum. I can see that you don't have problem on getting member but the member are not active ( just post at introduction area and leave). In this case, I suggest you hire some poster to make more topic and send out the newsletter to your recent member time to time

you need more traffic, so you have to promote your forum... to make the members come back to your site, publish newsletters to your member and consider using comment reply notifications plugins....

But, if you really want to develop a professional forums, then you HAVE to use vbulletin !

Why do I have to use vBulletin? HackForums is really big and it uses MyBB?

I am just try to open your forum and I get a error:

    1. Change your host
    2. Buy advertisements
    3. Post articles, comments, forum posting, etc and promote your forum
    4. Create a account in your forum as a "example" and post topics, create another account and reply your self...

4th trick is good for attracting other members.

You can grow the forum by creating a affiliate program or contest that allows the current forum members to promote their link to get more forum members. For example, have a "top post" or "top referrers" section, motivate the current members to bring new members.
