Not sure, if this post should go into "keywords". anyways, i want to ask is it a good idea to make your keywords large fonts, bold and highlighted ?? say eg, on my website www.freechatcode.com , if you mind reading the text, do you think, if I highlight and make my keywords like free chat, free chat room etc.. bold .. is it a good practice in terms of optimization ? will it not come under spamming ? I hope, i am clear in what I want to ask.. thnx
I think that worked a few years ago. I do not see any real help anymore. h tags help a little, not bolding.
My suggestion is to get your pages right and leave the title tags, H tags, descriptions and keyword density well alone whilst you get some back links to them. Leaving the keywords in blod may help you to attract more relevant google ads but, I do not think there is much advantage when it comes down to optimizing for ranking.
bolding DOES work well to help guide a reader down the page. if you bold specific highlights of the page (not necessarily keywords), you can get a person to stay on a page long, or click over to a second page.
I use bolding to guide the user through the text as they scan it. Most internet users are scanners, not readers. Bolding and underlining sections can help point out what you want to tell the scanner. The reader can fill in all the gaps with the rest of the text if they like. The bolding still may, or may not, have some effect for optimization. I think yes. So, on some of my underlined and bolded sections I will make sure there are keywords in there. Some, not all. But dont over do this or your page looks like a mess.
