Yes we can say but you must find quality directories. Use directories for seo ( create a backlink ) is a most known choise.
yes directory submission help in increasing page rank and keyword ranking and they bring traffic occasionally.
In fact, there is almost no benefit from submissions in 99.99% of dirs. Eventually, a few of them may help but on the other hand, since they do not list sites easy or fast it's not clear if it's worth doing submissions in them.
Directory submission can and does help, but remember it is only one small part of a larger SEO strategy.
I'm not so sure they are naysayers as much as they are simply upset that it did not work for them in their own experience. I get a kick out of how many people out there that will say that newspaper advertisements do not work. Then you find out they ran one ad one time in one paper. People need to remember that SEO is nothing more than advertising. It follows the same basic set of rules and principles. You cannot expect results from one listing in one directory, no more than you can expect results from one print ad one time in one paper. You need to formulate an overall strategy that encompasses everything from directory listing, search engine listing, ctr ads, forum and blog posts, as well as other traditional forms of outside marketing from print to direct mail. All a directory is is another tool in an ever expanding electronic medium of promotion and traffic generation. Once you figure that out and realize there is no need to re-invent the wheel, I think you'll gain a better understanding of why and how people use directories as part of their SEO strategy.
Here's an experiment I did that show how web directory submissions will help you. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2172178
Hello friend, directory submission is really help to get ranking but use quality and high PR directories.
There's a short but IMO dead-on correct post on the Authority Directory subject on Matt Carter's blog. He points out the reason it is important to seek out directories that have and enforce acceptance standards, as well as provide timely consideration and notification. As MIA stated, it's still effective (IF you select directories that are effective), but it's just one part of a comprehensive SEO strategy. It's one club in the SEO golf bag.
I thought the goal wasn't to get people to click on the link but to gain relevancy in your links and to make sure they're not viewed as spam.
So let's say I work for a company that sells banana's. If I post on forum's that are relevant to bananas will the link that I post up in my signature or in the body be worth more in terms of link juice? How about if what I post is very useful content that has to do with bananas like answering people's questions with detailed and researched answers?
