Phpbb doesn't use a plugin hook system like Vbulletin does. I believe it's all manual file edits. There should be a file in the mod you downloaded that will tell you which files to edit and where to put the code.

Was there a .xml file? If I remember correctly, that's where the installation instructions were.

Internet explorer should be able to open it, or any browser.

Right click -> open with -> choose your browser.

In that install.xml folder you'll have detailed instructions on how to do it, if it's your first time I wouldn't suggest installing the points mod as it's a long one and can be difficult for people new to phpBB mod installs, try an easier mod to get the hang of it first.

    Good luck!

Have you tried the automod mod?

It works well with a lot of mods. You use it to install but it will install the mod to the prosilver style, But if you go to it in your new automod tab in the ACP and click details for the new mod you installed. You will get the option to copy the changes from prosilver to the style you are using.

I must say though, sometimes the mod still dont work and you have to do some adjustments your self. like copy the contents of the styles folder in your new mod to your style you are using.

The whole Mod system for phpbb makes me want to poke my own eyes out. If you get them to install easy enough then it can be a complete pain in the rear to delete them if you dont like it or it dont work with your style.

woah this thing has about a whole 20 pages of code that I need to find and add or replace! This is going to be a very long process, and might aswell just invest in a vbulletin license...

MyBB might be an option if you're used to vBulletin. It features a plugin system almost similar to vBulletin's, XenForo's, IPB's, etc.

Yeah MyBB and phpBB is the most used free forum softwares but I would suggest getting a vBulletin forum if you can. And yes, in phpBB, you have to manually edit the codes.
