Small spike in my clicks (and therefore everything else) earlier this month. Is this something I should be worried about, or not?

you mean amount of traffic. Probably just the google dance. Just continue to do backlinks and everything will work out.

Don't worry about that, if that spike is legit, you shouldn't worry... :)

And another pointless one. 8,000+ posts and still trying to build it up.

Anyways, OP, I wouldn't worry about it if you weren't the one that clicked that day. Maybe you just had a good one.

You should worry if that spike doesn't come back, it would be a disappointement.

exactly why would I still be interested in building up my post count if you think i've already got 8k+ posts? How would you feel when you see the same question over and over again?

    RiverofRhyme,

Don't worry about it. Sometimes you will get spikes like that, but nothing to really concern about.

First, check your Google Analytics. Find out where that traffic came from. Usually, if I am correct, spikes do happen with couple of reasons:

    1) Reference Links: you or somebody left a link on forums (like this forums.sitepoint.com), digg, or some other websites

    2) Search Engine: Most likely, you probably didn't get traffic from Search engine. If you did, then it could be the keyword (long-tail). Spikes usually don't happen through Search Engine.

    3) Direct: Most likely not. You could still check.

Conclusion: No need to worry about it. You will get that a lot in the future.

You should contact Google to let them know. Look in the Contact info to look for their phone number.
