Hi I was using hostgator for some time now, but I am getting sick of problems with overload... So I am looking for something more reliable. I'd still like it to be relatively cheap, but it has to be reliable. Location of servers doesn't matter. It would be nice if I did not have any "limitations". However minimum I need is 10GB of space, 60-100 GB of transfer, 100 domains, around 50 e-mails and 100 databases. It would be great if the hosting had a live support over instant chat. Could you please recommend me something? Thanks alot!
There lots of hosts that fit the bill but no limitations to speak of is just asking for trouble because you're not aware of your limits and unsure when a particular host would cut off because of it. Its best, IMO, to know the limitations before reaching them Likely you're looking for a host with unlimited domains, your disk space/transfer seem very reasonable. Do you have any control panel requirements?
Cpanel would be great. @all I know there are many hostings but I am looking for one big name such as hostgator, yet I want to be on a higher level... I'm googling for days now and eventhough there are many hostings avalible it is hard to find one that is really big and proffesional :S
One more question please. What kind of VPS would I need to look for if traffic would be steady over whole month for this: 10GB of space, 60-100 GB of transfer, 100 domains I mean what kind of CPU, RAM...?
If you're thinking of running a cPanel VPS you'd be looking for at least 512Mb RAM minimum, preferably 1Gb RAM for spikes/peak times. Are the sites dynamic/static? I'm assuming because of the amount of databases previously indicated, the sites are dynamic?
Well, instead of searching for big names such as HostGator, why not host with HostGator itself? its one of the best we have when it comes to reliable hosting and its not too costly as well baby starter plan will only cost you $3.95 p/month.
If Hostgator shared hosting isn't cutting it for you then I really think you might need to upgrade to a VPS.
He already explained why. He WAS with Hostgator, but their servers were overloaded. That's very common.
Hostgator is very reliable, I have over a hundred of sites hosted there and never hava faced overload problems. However overload occurs when you are running a system-intesive script (or more) so think from such approach, in which case you should better get a VPS. Actually you can find quality VPS from reputable companies starting at $5.95, and even below but I wouldn't sign up for lower because those are extra-cheap services are truly a pain.
I'm with HostGator too for quite sometime now. Just upgrade to a VPS plan if your sites are on loan heavy scripts.
I would stay away from godaddy and hostgator they are for people that have no idea what good hosting is, why do you think they offer unlimited? It's a scam.
If you are still looking for suggestion, can recommend you m6.net website hosting solutions.. they offer resourceful and feature-rich web hosting plans at very cheap rates.. The uptime is excellent, their promise of 99.9% is correct.
I prefer quality of price. They have to be big ergo trustowrth like hostgator, godaddy, but not overloaded such as mentioned. Thanks!
