Does DP affect smartpricing?

Being a webmaster forum, I figure the conversion rate from DP clicks may not be that great (maybe I am wrong all along).
Could entering my adsense information here have a negative effect on smartpricing?
Would love to hear some speculation.

    Really good question!

I don't have the answer but some speculative guesses would be interesting to read.

When I started using the revenue sharing here my click prices went way down. When I took it off they went up again.

Of course. If you werent smart priced your impressions would go up and DP CTR would bring your overall CTR down. He's asking if your already smartpriced could a lower CTR brought on by DP cancel it out in anyway.

From what I have observed, with adding AdSense ads to my own sites, smart pricing is on an account by account basis, not on a site by site basis as it should be. As such I'm fairly certain that DP AdSense ads would hurt one's overall smart pricing.

Even with my own sites, I'm extremely selective which sites I'll put AdSense ads on. For instance I do not run AdSense on any of my forums.

Smart Priced for the couple of clicks you get each month?
    I don't believe so

Not for the couple of clicks you may get from DP each month but "is smartpricing applied to your Adsense account so that your click revenues go down for every site you run Adsense on as a result of high number of impressions v's low click throughs - i.e. low ctr?"

In other words, does displaying ads on DP adversely impact your entire Adsense account?

I don't run ads on DP so I'm personally unable to comment from experience one way or the other.

consider the fact that smart pricing is not supposed to be based on CTR but on conversion of the actual clicks

    I don't follow.

How can Google possibly know how well a click converts on the target (advertisers) website? Unless I've missed something along the way?

This is what the rumors are. I guess Analytics helps them a little bit

Okay here was my expierence, I added AdSense to one of my forums and a week or two later my average CPC dropped across all of my AdSense channels as did my overall revenues. I removed the AdSense ads from my forum and a couple of weeks later my CPC and overall revenues recovered to their normal levels. Maybe this was just a fluke, but I'm not going to take a chance by running AdSense on forums again.

The best I can tell, smart pricing is based on an account by account basis and one performing site on an account can affect smart pricing for the entire account.

I also was hit by Smart Pricing but I did not add it to low CTR site
and also returned back to somewhat normal earnings after removing the ads from that site

That was exactly the answer I was looking (not hoping) for.
    Thanks KLB.

No I wasn't. I was asking if DP could trigger smartpricing.

I wonder if advertisers ever get punished if they always report 0 conversion and thus dilute the whole adsense pricing system (I guess not). Which makes me want to skip sides. I should really be selling something and using Adwords to drive my traffic. Adsense clearly favors Advertisers over Publishers. Time to take advantage of that.

I think it is way too risky to put your adsense account in these forums. I had mine adsense code in here but removed it. Not a good idea to have your adsense running on a site you can't control. One person could come in here and click every ad in every thread and perhaps get dozens of people banned. Is it worth the 30 cents a week you might make here?

Also, on a side note...I'm freaking pissed at google. F you google for smart pricing me.

I guess you will be changing your username to 2figureblogz now?
But I agree with you that Google are F idiots. I am now giving them way less ad impressions (only from one site after removing some lower converting ones) but I get more money.
Only Google can be successful with such a moronic buisiness model.
Basically this means you give them less impressions and they reward you. How stupid. Good for me, I give more to other networks now.
