Finally a steady amount but CTR still very low

After two years I finally have a steady amount of about $5 per day. In the past I would have a $10 day followed by a month of only cents then a good week three bad weeks but now it's been two months with a steady amount and gradually going up but my question is why is the CTR so low, it is less than a percent. I figure the ads are not always related to the site, should I put ads above content?

By the way the $5 is within several sites, I think that has been a key factor too.

Try changing the color of your ads! Red did really well for me.

I once had a Google News site that was only making about $10 a day with AdSense ads.
It used WordPress as its content management system.
After I changed the theme from a very professional, fancy looking one to a much plainer, simpler one, the clickthrough rate went up and income nearly doubled.

Increasing your CTR is the easiest way to improve your eCPM. There's always a way to improve your CTR especially when it is in the low 1%. Make tests you can do it!

You should really try testing out different colors of your ads.

the only way to know the answer is try it out. Play around with your ads placement and find the different
No one can actually know what will happen after you change the placement, you need to try it out yourself

Your ctr will increase if you put ads above content. I can post links yet, but search for heatmap adsense in Google and you will find an adsense heatmap.
