eBay marketing

I have been selling on ebay for years now, and have a few tips that I have picked up on the way, but I was wondering if there are any other ebay sellers on dp that have any ebay marketing strategies they would like to share.

    my main guidelines are:

1-List at a good time if you are doing auctions, those last minute bidding wars can really increase your profit so list around the evening hours when more people in the USA (since that is usually the main market) are up and using their PC.

2-Search for your product on ebay and see other keywords that people are using, but also look at how the auctions look to see how yours can stand out more. If it is a category with TONS of flashy listings, make your lowkey and it will stand out as people weed through the garbage. If it is not, then use gallery and other upgrades.

3- Use multiple listings instead of big upgrades. Instead of using an expensive listing like gallery featured (for $20), list the same items everyday (using whatever upgrades you think are worthwhile). This will also keep you in the first page of search results all the time, but at a lower cost.

4- Think of fees not as selling fees but as advertisment costs. If you have an unlimited supply of a homogenous good, then list it all the time, even if many auctions dont sell. This will increase your total sales. Of course you can over do this aswell since you will see diminishing returns on each new listing after a certain point.

you guys can PM me if you want some pointers, I can post some more later but now it is time for some dinner! spagetti dinner!

here are a few tips on fee reduction aswell

1- Charge extra shipping. I know it isnt with ebay policy, but if you sell a low cost item ($10 or less per item) then increase your shipping fees and put a portion of your profit into shipping. They never say anything, I have done it for 3 years and it is common practive.

2-know the fee schedule don't pass each cutoff unless you need to. If you have highnough volumes every 5 cent savings makes a significant difference, ebay fees can be seen here (for US and Canada). the cuttoffs are:
    0.01-0.99
    1.00-9.99
    10-24.99
    etc...
if you are going to sell something for $11, list it at $9.99 and add an extra $1 to shipping, it is worth it.
If you use fixed price listings then list the maximum possible ammount without going over. fixed price item's insertion fee is based on the price * the number you list. For example, if you want to list something for $3, list 3, not 4 that way you dont go over $10. and if you find 3 is not enough, then list 8, since 3*8 = 24 so this is the most you can list without going over 24.99.

one other thing that is VERY important is using all 80 characters in your title to optimize search's. Think of everything you can that people would use to look up your product and put as much as possible, if you are not sure what to put look up your product and see how other sellers are listing it.
for example, I have been selling GBA games lately, instead of just writing:
Super Mario Advance for Gameboy Advance
    i write

Super Mario Advance, GBA Gameboy DS MICRO SP SMA

DS MICRO and SP are all types of Gameboys that the game will work with, SMA is a shortform for Super Mario Advance and I put Gameboy instead of Gameboy Advance because Advance is in the game title so there is no need to repeat the word.

Other more "creative" methods can also be used, for example, I sold Naruto (the anime) Manga's. But I realized most people searching for naruto on ebay only knew the show, so they would search for Naruto DVD, to catch these users I put "not a DVD" at the end of my title... I wasn't lying, and its not like I pretended it was a DVD in the auction, but ebay users browsing naruto dvd's would also see the manga's I am selling, realize naruto started in Manga form and prehaps buy one. Little things like this make a significant difference
