Page 1 on all engines no traffic.

After months of trying to get to page 1 for my dream keywords im finally there. However even though im page 1 on Yahoo, MSN, (Google.com position 10 on all dc's) and position 9 google.co.uk there is still no traffic for these particular keywords even though the keyword suggestion tool suggest's that this is typed in 12000 times a month.

So my questions is, where the hell is the traffic going to? Do you think the top positions 1,2 and maybe 3 get all the traffic, especially on Google?

    thanks.

Puzzling why your not getting any traffic.
Maybe your title and description are not enticing the searchers to click.
Do one of your close competition have a really compelling title and description?
I would still expect some traffic

What's your targetted keywords? If it's a very rare ones, that's normal because not too many people will search that. If the keyword is a popular one, then maybe your title, description mistake the searchers.

Yes I have traffic from lots of other keywords that were quite easy to rank for.

It's this reasonably popular phrase that alot of websites are trying to rank for that i would of thought would produced hits even on position 9 or 10 on Google.

I don't really want to mess with the title but i will spice the description up and see if that entices searchers more.

The only other thing i can think of is that searchers are finding what they are looking for from the top of the page rather then looking further down.

    thanks

I was #1 in yahoo for a term that supposedly got over 1000 searches/month according to overture but at most I was getting 40 visitors/month. My theory - Overture is wrong.

Make sure your targeted phrase that you are ranking for is also
In Your TITLE If a reader searches for Auburn Tigers & your title dose not refference Auburn Tigers exactly prefferably near the front But #2-10 does be sure they will pick up the Title with the phrase

Yes the title have the keywords right at the front.

I'm beginning to think this keyword is fools gold. Loads of my competitors are chasing it, when your chasing links yourself you get to see what anchor they are leaving all over the place so you do tend to belive that it's worth chasing yourself. I think overture suggestion tool is not as accurate as some might think.

Well lesson learned here, pay for Adwords for a week see if the traffic is really there then go chasing links.

I have another 5 different keywords all on page 2, i hope they don't turn out to be fruitless. Apparently they total 40,000 hits a month, im going to be sick if it's not true!

The overture tool is basically all words related with a phrase. For instance satellite tv gives you 4,837.5 /day but most people dont just type in satellite tv they will type in satellite tv deals things like that. The trick is to find out what exactly those people are typing in. One effective way is to use a program called hittail .com its free you put the code on your site and you can use it for ppc traffic to get ideas. Sometimes youll get traffic from unexpected places. I was searched for on terms I never would have guess people would have found me with. I was actually on the 2nd page on google and someone click on my site. What I do then is I make a site around that keyword and target it so ill be number 1 and get those people that searched for. Keep adding keywords with the hitail program it works. Also you might want to consider adding this tool to your web site it will increase your traffic. www. thetellafriend .com
