I have created a blog and written a first post.. but I am absoloutley clueless what to do next!! Is there s step by step guide on what to do? How do i get traffic? Do i do more posts? Pay for traffic? Just general help much appreciated Ricky

You need to get more posts, so yea write more. Then start dropping your link in forums when you have a chance to do it according to the forums rules you are on, maybe in your sig, etc. Also more posts on your blog means more chances for search engine traffic. With a blog just starting out I would not buy too much traffic. Social links are another great way to get your traffic going.
Is the other guys in here says you need to write more posts. Do you want to visit a blog with only one post? Do you want to go back to a blog that only had one post last you where there? I don't think so. I will take time to build traffic to your site so stay focused on your content and start building incoming links to your blog. Good luck.
You can start letting people know about your blog via your facebook friends, placing it in your signature links in forums and leave some comments in related blogs or sites with your site and anchor text as username but don't go overboard with this.

Use twitter and facebook to drive traffic, or get links from other blogs, thus, increasing your traffic flow, and such.
You can also comment in other related blogs because in my opinion, it is a kind of conversation. I think that is an easy, quick way to get blog traffic
