How much time to spend on Facebook?

Discussion in 'Facebook' started by eric_wahlberg, May 11, 2011.

    Hi All,

I have recently started marketing my site through Facebook.

I participate in groups related to my service (which is link building)

Yet to create a Fan Page.

Can anyone tell me how much time I should spend on Facebook to get clients for my service and what exactly I shall do to get clients?

Well your fan page will hopefully get you some fans, try targeting webmasters. I wouldn't spend much time on facebook though, better off spending time on your site

Its not about the time. You just have to be regular and update continuously maintaining the quality. Along with you must interact clearly and more flawlessly with your followers. To done all this you have to spend as time as it is required if you wanna win this race.

Constant updates and keeping things fresh is almost a full time thing. There are guides out there for this. Marketing guides I believe.

Well the thing you should understand that, spending time on Facebook or posting links on Facebook is not what is called 'link building'. If you are looking for link building then facebook is not the proper place at all. However you can get more and more eyeballs from facebook for your site or fan page. This can be done by some viral marketing techniques which has to be implemented properly in your related niche groups and fan pages. All this procedure should not take around couple of hours in a day ;)

The actual amount of time you need spend marketing your site on facebook will be different for every site. I'd say make sure you get an attractive fan page up and running, and make sure you place a like box on your site. From there, the only time you need to spend is updating your fans with fresh content and promoting your actual website. The more visitors that come to your actual site, the more fans you will gain from the like box. From there, your fan page will begin showing up in peoples news feeds and spreading naturally across facebook.

I go on it way too much. Probably an hour a day, either to socialise, or use advertising techniques towards my website.

I spent 2 hours everyday in average. I tried not to spend much time on that cause I care of my family members and my friends.

You might need to conduct a contest to boost up your fans otherwise, the chances of clicking "Like" to your page is lower.

I use Facebook Notifier (alternatively you can use FaceTab for Mac) -- A little Facebook icon sits in my menubar and lights up blue whenever I receive a notification. Then, and only then, do I visit Facebook.com. Needless to say, I save a lot of time not browsing Facebook and getting sucked into every pointless status update.
