Hi I have just created the website at www.thinkdepository.com. This website is intended to allow users to post thoughts for discussion under 3 main "Umbrella" topics: Academic, Entrepreneurial, Philosophical. I am really having trouble getting traffic to my website. Worse still, the people who do come don't sign up. Is my website no good, or does it not offer anything new? How do I get people to sign up Thanks, Matt
Hi Matt, The sites that get rank by the major search engines offer alot of original value content pages such as 100 pluse pages. However you can get free traffic by using free traffic exchanges such as traffic swarm. Sign up for Yahoo Answers and follow thier guide lines. This is a great way to create a buzz about your website and get back links. You should also use the free social sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The next join a social bookamrking site such as Stumble Upon. Bill
Promote your websites on - Social networking websites - Social bookmarking websites - Video distribution websites - Article directories (after Panda update, this strategy is loosing its benefits) - Other niche related blogs - Forums Other than these techniques you can use PPC marketing to promote your website. but you have to be very cautious, PPC marketing involves risk.
Start from Search Engine Submission Social Bookmarking Directory Submission Forums Articles Press Release
Make one or more attractive free offer for your visitor i.e. may be ebook or some thing useful for them. Make the offer only for the registered user. Then people will sign up with your site.
Share it with other People that may be Interested Now that you accomplished the two easy avenues in getting traffic, you can start spreading your website even further by sharing it with other people that you think may be interested with the site. Check out forums that allow signature advertising and join in with the discussions after setting your website address or linked banner image as your signature. If your new website is selling products or services, you can also post in the many classified ad sites available online. Try social bookmarking sites as well since search engines crawl often there as well.
i do think those categories are not interesting at all. people roaming around the net just want entertaining sites. if you are targeting particular audience, then visit some forums with related niche discussion and post your links there. just don't be spammy.
Initially you must do some email marketing. It is very necessary for a new business and work actually like an introduction. When I started my website, then started email marketing to targeted user, and got valuable replies. Now I dont need it
You can market your site in different way, such as Creating backling Bloging Making fan page Making group Advertising on Adsense and some other things like this....
I think you should go for Search Engine Optimization of your website and you will have good response.
Do good keyword research and target the more potential keywords for Search Engine. use some long tail keywords for your website also. only rank in SERPs can divert potential visitors to your website.
Just make sure that you're targeting the right kind of people. It may just be the case that the wrong people are visting your site and hence not signing up. I recommend doing some more targeted seo work as a few people have just mentioned here.
In order to generate a lot of traffic to your website, its contents must be unique. Index all the pages in your website with google. Use back links. The use of right keywords repeatedly often does the trick.
With sites like these, admins usually pay some people to generate a conversation, and start topics, when real people come to the site they are more likely to sign up, and participate seeing others are already doing the same
