It's not just the US every superpower does it . Russia and China included - Russia bombed the Chechnyn rebels for a lot of years in a row nad not to long ago they zerged rushed Georgia lifting them 10 feet into the air . China is to busy pwning it's own people so they don't have a lot of time for external wars .
You guys and CNN is making Osama a Martyr..... This SOB is dead forever, and this forum has allowed a thread with his name to even continue.... By giving him a thread, mentioning his name, 3 weeks of CNN airtime, you guys are making him a hero... I would indeed remove this MF from history, delete all threads, and remove him from CNN and news networks and lets move on with life. You guys are giving to much focus on this guy, why?
Then I guess we should remove Hitler from history too? Stalin? Christ? Good or bad, history teaches us lessons. Erasing any mention of that history erases the lessons for future generations. He's no more a Martyr than the Easter Bunny is real.
Excellent point. He almost had me convinced it was a good idea till I thought about it the way you put it.
US is the sole superpower. If you mean countries with great power buit still not superpower then still US drops 100 times more bombs than the second highest coutry bombing.
I have to agree here on this one... Independent thinkers see other perspectives, and can even change their minds.. People who have someone think for them, never see the other side of the issue, and never accept any other opinion.
The December 1998 bombing of Iraq (code-named Operation Desert Fox) was a major four-day bombing campaign on Iraqi targets from December 16–19, 1998 by the United States and United Kingdom. Invasion ? Not quite. Like in another thread. Someone thought for somebody. If this was me talking the other side would not hesitate to snitch in a heartbeat. Cry cry cry all day.
If the US was the sole superpower then China would not be able to blackmail the world's IT industry by having a iron grip monopoly on Rare Earths and Russia would be a nice bunny and not criticize the missile shield .
I thought we were talking about bombing, not invasions... And for that matter it can be argued that the current Iraq war started in 1993 http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24213.html Clinton was lobbing cruise missiles at Saddam back in 93'. So far, you're the only one talking about "invasion". Pay attention.
"Earlier today, I ordered Americas armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors...I have ordered a strong, sustained series of air strikes against Iraq. They are designed to degrade Saddam's capacity to develop and deliver weapons of mass destruction." President Bill Clinton, December 16, 1998. Source - CNN "U.S. Navy ships launched 23 Tomahawk missiles against the headquarters of the Iraqi Intelligence Service yesterday in what President Clinton said was a 'firm and commensurate' response to Iraq's plan to assassinate former president George Bush in mid-April." June 27, 1993 Source - Washington Post These are the ones I could find. President Clinton hit Iraq so heavy over the course of his Presidency that it could be considered the Second Iraq War.
How much the US spent for War on Terror and now its bankrupt. Was it worth it ? Was OBL worth the price ?
You make it sound like we spent all our money putting a few rounds into Osama. Killing Osama was dirt cheap compared to invading Iraq. Invading Iraq was dirt cheap compared to rebuilding Iraq. Rebuilding Iraq was dirt cheap compared to bailing out Fannie and Freddie. Bailing out Fannie and Freddie was dirt cheap compared to electing Barrack Obama. Comparatively speaking, we could have killed Osama Bin Laden 1000 times over for the price of all the other nonsense. In answer to your question, it was absolutely worth the price. Hell, I'll take two.
I remember neat & clean, Clinton Govt attacked Afganisthan with missiles for once to kill Laden. But it was George W Bush who attacked and destroyed Iraq.
You can say anything about a death man. Because the death one cannot come back to claim against the blame.
