An XML sitemap helps to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling so that they are included in the search engine's database. This file supports SEO and allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently. I recommend the XML sitemap to help improve the ability for search engines to find your store!

The sitemap.XML helps search engines to crawl all the links from one place that is stored in Root Directory of our website. The search Engine gets all the links from one place and they crawl easily.so sitemap.XML is very helpful for search engines while crawling the website.

It only helps getting your pages indexed, but it has no bearing on SERPS. Never forget a text sitemap, even Matt Cutts suggests they are more important than xml sitemaps.

I see an xml site map as only really necessary for big sites with complex navigation. Most small sites - say 50 pages or less - can get by without one.

It is true that smaller sites may not need one, but by listing all of your pages in one location it can get them crawled and indexed quicker since Google will know which pages exist rather than having to find them naturally by crawling your site. Also, as mentioned previously you can let Google know which pages you place more importance on so they may get crawled sooner.

An XML sitemap helps to inform search engines about your website and to index and crawl the links.
