yes , it's possible to get $5 for a keyword. Check which one is targeted and aim for it.

 

I've never managed to get adsense to work efficiently for me. Maybe I didn't put enough effort into it, but I think there are possibly better methods of advertising on your blog/website.

While it's good, it's not very high. Most people that work with Google Adsense, don't even worry about targeting a keyword unless it's earning $1.50 - $2.00 or more, consistently. There are plenty of niches that pay $10+, but because of the high payout, it means you have to work higher.

Using Adsense to make a living isn't easy in the beginning, it's trial and error, and a lot of hard work.

 

I am very interested as well in knowing what keywords pay 1.25 a click. Seriously that would make a huge difference in my bottom line. Care to share the info???

Yes it takes a little bit of work to get adsense to work well but it can definitely be worth the effort
