Hi there, As I'm lurking around DP a found lot of people offering PSD to HTML service with quite low price. I like to know for everyone who done PSD to HTML job, if the client not asking for TABLE or DIV layout, are you just slice the PSD and save them as HTML (table) do some content tweaking and deliver it to client ? or you straightly convert it to DIV(tableless) ?
yeah you can do that in photoshop, just make all slices and save as html file. it will get saved in table format with all slices.
@ardianet, DP's BST section is the cheapest place one can expect in this world. I'm not sure what others offers in respect of quality with such low price. As far as my concern, I charge what is standard(much more than usual charge can be found in DP) and quality is top notch, W3C verified, Semantic code, Cross browser compatible webpage.
I just tend to slice it and code it using Divs. Tables are lazy, and the client isn't getting what they paid for. That is the point of Designing and coding..
I usually ask what the what the client wants. If they don't mind, I would build the site with div layers and add some kind of content management mechanism. I would test the site out with different browsers before handing it to the client.
Table tags is just meant for Tables design you should never user Tables tags to structure your website, the tag DIV is the right one to structure your site, and you will be able to user the full funcionality of CSS
Hi there, Thanks for all the reply. I guess the meaning of 'PSD to HTML' is to use DIV instead Table. Well, I Just curious about the low-price fee. Coz I think converting a template to DIV structure is quite a job. Including cross-browser testing & validation.
@ardianet: the meaning of 'PSD to HTML' is to give your client a website template that looks exactly the same as the PSD file. It doesn't mean DIVs or Tables. Also, it doesn't mean slicing. I'm a professional web designer, I design optimized website templates and I advice you to AVOID SLICING. Although it may seem like the easiest way to finish your job, it affects the loading time as the browser will need to load multiple images (may be high resolution images too), and therefore much loading time.
true, slicing only (without converting the table) is all about image. Is it only layouting or with working code (like hover effect, contact form, etc.) ?
I always convert straight to XHTML / CSS whether the client ask for it or not. Delivering a sliced PSD seems childish and removes the quality of your service. Also charging extremely cheap usually means bad quality or a beginner. I on the other hand charge a lot more ... and it depends on the complexity of the design. - V
