What's your Amazon conversion rate? Here's mine...

I've never known whether I am doing well or poorly with my Amazon affiliate links and have been curious how my results compare to others. If you're willing to share (don't have to provide great detail if you don't want to), I thought it would be interesting.
Also, I think the "conversion" rate is really individual items sold/visitors that click-through to Amazon (instead of purchases/visitors, where one purchase can be made up of a bunch of different items), which seems odd to me...

Anyway, here's my info (please feel free to share yours!):
Type of website: sporting goods, fairly specialized to one sport
    Age of site: ~1.5 years
    Website visitors per day: 500
Amazon conversion rate: 4-4.5% on average

If I should have added other info to help more, please let me know -

4-5% is a really good conversion rate and if you are targeting an expensive product you must be making good $$$

Wish I was...I find that most people may go to Amazon, but then not wind up buying the more expensive product, but generally less expensive ones (maybe a completely different unrelated product - like a book instead of sporting goods!). I can't tell since they don't show by Amazon visitor, but it looks like some people buy a bunch of relatively low-priced items, which drives up my "conversion" rate but doesn't lead to much $. Unfortunately!

Yes Sure If A Person is Just Surfing Some Thing And He Get,s to ur website and looks around the stuffs and if he found really interesting then he might buy but all depends upon the cost if it is low then sure he or she might take an action to get that product ..... This way i am going with amazon and i am successful ....!!!!

It does not really matter that much if they buy inexpensive item - what you should be looking for it that vital click-thru. Some of the biggest items I sold were not actively promoted on my site, but it was the little items that took them to Amazon where they eventually bought other expensive things.

    Keep that in mind.
    Good luck

Your conversion rate is quite good. It is above average for sure. Most people are lagging at 1-2%...Mine is around 6%.

I am currently getting around a 4% conversion rate for all time (I've only been with amazon affiliate for about 6 months). At first my converison rate was near 11%, but that has dropped big time in the past 2 months. Still trying to figure out why, and If I find any specific I'll come back to post it here for my fellow DP'ers.

Mine's 6.3% for 2011 so far. It has dropped from 7-8% because I added a lot more visible Amazon links on site. Conversion dropped but number of items shipped are up.

And for those with high conversion rates (say, >6%)....are the items that people are purchasing through your site smaller ticket items (say <$20), or larger?
I'm trying to get a sense for what causes high conversion rates - is it the product(s) that are promoted, the possible demographic, the cost of the item(s), or how "focused" your site is (like if you just sell tennis rackets, for example)

That's really successful! I hope to have that kind of conversion someday. I'm just starting out using Amazon affiliate links and I've only had 2 sales so far.

I have a 16.4 conversion rate so far in the month of June (June 1 - June 3, 2011.) Last month it was 14.29 for the entire month of May. And May was my first month actively using Amazon.

June Clicks: 67 (in just 3 days)
    June Ordered items: 11
    June click thru rate: 16.42

    May Clicks: 203
    May Ordered Items: 29
    May click thru rate: 14.29

Am I reading these right? I'm very new at this, so when you guys are getting lower rates are you factoring in the website page views too?

    Thanks,
    :)

The key to Amazon is just getting the customers in the door, although the 24 hour window of time for them to purchase does not really leave much time.
