If we have self duplicated content, will we rank lower in Google search.
Following is my question in detail.
I wish to create a website related to Java tutorials. It will have a few chapters and I intend to keep the length of a chapter too long for I think that those who seriously wish to learn Java do not like hitting the next button frequently. (It gives the feel of an e book while scrolling down)
However for the promotion purpose, I wish to go to forums and then answer their question and write something like "For more information refer...... page"
The refer so and so pages will be created for each of the answer that I am going to give . This means that I am going to create new page for each of my answers. the text will be extracted from the main tutorial. Will Google consider this as copying? Will that affect my search engine rankings?

    Hey,
Always use fresh and unique content for your website. don't use your own content in two different website because google will count it duplicate content.
One more thing you should go through Google Panda.
    Thanks

I dont agreed that duplicate contents is like spamming. Its not duplicate, it is syndication of contents.

As long as you add some make up to the contents, like change the title a bit, add photos to it, youtube video etc, to google eyes its not a duplicate content any more. Make some touch up of the contents and you are good to go! Dont't worry about all those negative post you received here.

I for once, have experienced using such contents and with a bit makeup, Walla - my post get index before 24 hours, you need to do a bit of seo.

If your article is firstly indexed on your site ( make sure it does ), then you won't have too many problems with posting short extracts here and there. Otherwise, press releases would never rank...

I think that you haven't read my question completely. The content is my own and unique.

I am not going to two the content on two different pages. The content will be used twice but on the same website.

If you are duplicating a few lines from a full length article on another page but within the same website, the page with the short extracts probably won't rank well because you are not optimizing for one keyword, it will be right mix from all the different paragraphs you are pulling on to the page. The full article page should rank fine though as long as you do best practice SEO on it.

You can try canonical tag for duplicate content.
