My sites serp has been jumping from 30ish to 150 back to 30ish for the last week

    For my main keyword my site has been jumping around like crazy. Int he mornings it could be 34 and 4 hours later it will be about 150. its been going like this for nearly 2 weeks.

    Any ideas or is this normal?

    Site is only 2 months in a competitive niche.

    Yep this is google dance. Dont worry about it your website position will be stable in few days. Stop backlinking for 2 days and wait for updated indexing. Your keywords position will be stable in few days after indexing update.... cheers....

    Ranking fluctuation is very high for new websites. Your ranking issue will solve automatically with time. You need to build links continuously to get long term ranking.

    This is not Google dance.. In fact it does not exist anymore.

    There are several reasons for ranking fluctuations, like,
    - Queries passed to different data centers
    - You are logged into your google accounts while checking your rankings
    - Search variations (Mozilla/Virgin homepage searches may give different results than Google.com)
    - Busy periods (if there are lots of searches/activity - you may talk to other DCs as the normal ones are slower/busier)

    Please keep following points in mind when checking your rankings for next time,
    Logged out of G Accounts
    - Opted out of Personal Search
    - Use the same computer
    - Use the same browser
    - Use the same Search page
    - Use the same Search settings

    first the first time my site has settled in the 40'S for 2 days now.

    I was actually using a online serps checker to check for me. Hopefully there method does everything you say when searching. Thanks

    This is very normal. It is called the Google Dance. It's trying to figure out the proper positioning for your website. When that usually happens it means that your website will take the highest ranking position very soon.

    So in your case you could expect to be ranked between 30 - 35.
