Hey everyone, I was about to purchase an international domain name (eg. .in, .co.uk). And so I checked the availability on a few registration website and the domain was available. So just out of curiosity, I went to check the whois information on the domain name (before I purchased the domain name), and it's telling me that it is registered to someone, and that the expiration date of the domain name is in 2016. So, what's going on? Does this mean I can't register it? Or I can? Why is the information of a previous owner still there? Once I register it, will it override his info, and display mines? And just one more question on the side, the fact that this domain name had been registered in the past (and thus has domain age), will this be a good thing for seo? Thanks, I really appreciate it.
if that domain is now open for registration, then its a dropped domain. and i think as i've read it everywhere in DP that it won't be helpful in SEOs term
If the Whois info says that it's registered to someone until 2016, you can't register it. It could've been a glitch with the registry when you were doing a search showing it was available. Which company were you going to register with? BTW, I'm pretty sure .in doesn't allow IDNs & certainly not .co.uk as it's an English language ccTLD.
