    Hello ,
i am new in SEO and all that stuff related and i would like to ask if "spam" comments effect your SEO or your PageRank .

I have seen many comments on my site lately like the comments that are made for "backlinks" mostly spam comments and i am worried if i should disable them.
    Thanks in advance.

    YES. In two different ways:

    1) If the comments include a lot of spammy text say, references to medicines, etc, the context of your page (say, about cars) may be completely overwhelmed by non-relevant content and will therefore score lower. This is difficult to prevent.

    2) If the comments link to "bad neighbourhoods", search engines will penalize you. You can attenuate this by making the links "no-follow".

Keep in mind that the comments are "part of the page" and therefore to a certain extent attributed to you. It is therefore a good idea to moderate comments, even if it means additional work. My blog is DO-follow, but moderated, and I trash ruthlessly any text that is not related to the discussed topic.

On the bright side, related and valuable comments will enhance the value of your page and increase your SEO and PR.

If blog comment is relevant and approved your link than its help to improve page rank, if your link is moderate than no lucrative of page rank.

They will be added as backlinks, however I recommend you only add backlinks to sites with a similar niche so you don't get penalized or sandboxed by google.

Also, you need to check in the page where you are commenting does not attribute the links as "nofollow." If they do, the link bank is less valuable than if they do not block the bots from following the link

Comments to relevant sites help to get backlinks but should be on "dofollow" websites and without any spamming...

They are not a good idea at all, but I can say you make some backlinks but don't make it the main way to get links to your site.

Not true! If the blog comment is nofollow, which it is by default, it won't improve PR at all.

Yes, Why not lots of links on your webpage will definitely affect your website. If it is limited then you will do link exchange with other sites and if it is unlimited then your site gain a reputation like link farm and hence it becomes almost waste for most of the websites linking to it.

Comments on your blog show that you have viewers to your blog. If you feel people try to spam your blog, you should make links no-follow. Google has introduced no-follow tag to prevent blog spamming.

Better disable comments, because mostly spammers spam in your blog with their comments and it's just extra work for u to clean it later.
