AVG is pretty popular. But then you really ought to consider using a firewall, anti-spyware, and rust proofing too :p

avast! is another alternative. My friend recommended this one for me. The home edition is free to download. There are many protections (including a scanner that scans every web page you visit for viruses), which is good and makes me feel safer.

AVG & AVAST are pretty much the best FREE Virus Software these days...

One thing all of you need to remember is the *Virus Writers* have "ALL" the Virus Programs and the can test their stuff against them at anytime....

The Virus programs will only be able to protect you after the creators of those programs *Hear About* & *Get their hands on those Viruses* so they can Create a Solution to have your software update itself...

Kinda like having a Great Mouse Trap, only Someone Else is always ahead of you with a better Mouse...

I am using NOD32. Although its not a free anti-virus but it does come with a 30-day trial. Maybe you can give it a try before deciding to buy the license. If you are looking for a free anti-virus, you may want to consider avast!. I used it before but I find that the time taken for scanning the whole system took quite long time. I am quite happy with the performance of NOD32 which I am using now. Hee...
