I'll be hosting a new site and expecting 5000-10000 visitors daily in a couple of months. i want best look & feel and with least maintainance discussion forum with quick & easy forum disciplining. Money is not a constraint. Which one to go for? I've also gone thru very good comparison of PHPBB vs VBulletin: http://www.forummatrix.org/compare/phpBB+vBulletin I was thinking to go for vBulletin, but plenty of people are advising against it.
as this was posted in the vBulletin forum, you should likely not expect a lot of folks to say anything but vB. Personally, the next forum I start will NOT be vBulletin, Jelsoft Rocked, Internet Brands sucks eggs. I'm currently looking into Invision Power Boards, it certainly seems to have most of the things I am looking for in a forum platform, its stable, and offers more functionality then most of the free boards.
True, I can't compre service to anywhere else, however, sometimes they are very helpful and other times not, feels hit and miss.
Invision is not bad, 3.2 will certainly be something. Otherwise, XenForo is a really good and stable product, which has been developed by the former vBulletin developers. It's a lot more modern and stable than vBulletin has ever been under Internet Brands, and is certainly faster as well.
I'll try Xen once they win in court... I fear the worst otherwise. But I do really like the look & feel of that board.
Go with vBulletin, you won't be disappointed. IPB is another good alternative as well for around the same price.
http://xenforo.com/community/threads/a-statement-regarding-the-current-litigation.7567/ You'll need to search for more information, as this is not the place for this discussion... but seriously, I'm not gunna buy Xen till the battle is over. However, I must say, from the looks of it, it's the best for the money (between vB & IPB) so it'll likely be a real player in the game if they survive.
Yes I think vBulletin is the best forum board, then xenForo, then IP.Board, then SMF... these are my appraisals.
What is Internet Brands going to do if they actually win? It's just another ploy from them to scare you from doing otherwise. Convince me that we should all go back to them if they win, you know. Besides, has it actually helped improve their reputation or anything? Certainly did not seem like it when they announced their English Lawsuit. In fact, it was damaging enough that they didn't tell anyone they filed their second lawsuit.
