First of all, welcome to DP! Check this post by Christian Mezei : http://www.seopedia.org/internet-ma...es/web-directories-with-an-affiliate-program/ This would help you a lot.
people here try to sell sitewide link or make it a sponsor link when their directory reach some good PR.
yeah, thank you chetan and toby gave me the right and i want to know how important domain is for a directory site, just as .com .inso or sub-domain and so on?
I think Directory should be on main domain otherwise people will not consider purchasing link in your directory ! Saad
Footer text links, sell bulk featured links. I tried popups on my directory but people didn't seem to like it.
If your directory generates a welcome, acceptance, or denial email you could offer ad spots within those emails. I would keep it to a minimum, but I have in the past offered spots like these with success. If your wondering what to charge for something like this, I found that most would pay from $25 - $35 per month for a two line teaser link. Since the number of emails going out is dependent on the number of submissions your directory gets. Also, you have to remember that only about half of those emails get read. Just something I played around with and managed to sell a few links with for a few months. It worked, but I think it's an idea that could be refined on and put to some use on a directory.
I can't belive that anybody pays for a web directory listing... you get a PR0 link for a lot of money. Why??
There are a multitude of reasons why anyone might consider paying for a directory listing and there are a multitude of reasons why anyone might not. I guess it all boils down to personal philosophy. You can spend a great deal of time submitting to PR0 pages in hopes they will stay around long enough to gain a little PR before the owner gets tired. Or you can pay for position and links on established pages which are already indexed. I doubt anyone is going to pay "a lot of money" for a PR0 position without a very good reason. It all depends on what the submitters plans are and what they are trying to accomplish. No mystery, no good, no bad choices. Just personal ones.
If the directory can send visitors to my site then I dont see a reason not to buy a link. Obviously the choice depends on each individual directory. PR is not everything though most often it does give a good indication about the quality of the site.
Indeed, & niche directories, for example web hosting directories that potential customers visit are a great & high converting source of traffic for hosting businesses.
so is it possiable that affiliate program will take the most important place in Directory Site's Income?
I think an affiliate program in conjunction with a directory is an excellent way to generate income and a good many backlinks to boot. I know several of the really popular directories offer an affiliates program. Nothing like getting paid to advertise for another directory...
Within a week, 2 at most, I'll have 1000 sites. Anyone signing up as an affiliate will be able to make $40 per signup on a six month membership.
for example at filehostingreview.com we sell ad links and direct ads only. adsense is not for us - rev is so small.
