Gossh  Only a post brought 50,000 visitors in a day and still it has some effect. Can you believe it? I am not boasting, this has really happened to one of the websites, where I’m a member. And I had submitted that post to digg.com and some other book-marking sites because that post was interesting, may be it was a bit old but certainly for new users it was interesting. I guess that’s why that post invited such a giant figure in terms of visitors in just one day.

Have you guys ever tried attracting visitors that way?

LinkWeaver, to some extent you might be right. It may not bring in targeted traffic but where will you get such a huge number of active visitors? They not only visit but also participate, if they feel to be part of. There is no doubt that the social book-marking sites have a huge active community. Now it’s our job to make our site useful. There has to be something unique that would make them come back to the site again and again.

Another important point is that posting in Digg or for that matter any other bookmarking site will not only fetch a good number of visitors but also a lot of backlinks as numerous members might just add your Digg post to their blog.

Now coming to your query. Just follow the steps to submit your favorite topics:

    1) Register (if you are not a registered then), now login.
    2) Click on the “Submit a New Story” button at the top-right in the home page.
    3) Now enter the URL of the Topic/Story and click the “Continue” button.
    4) Write a “Story Title” (e.g.- Find out who gives away your email address with Gmail trick) and paste some part of your story’s first para as the “Story Description” or else you can also right your own summary.
    5) Choose the most appropriate topic or category.
    6) Just enter the text visible in the box (Captcha) and click the submit button. You’re done.

    Hope that helps. :)

Digg traffic is useful if you get a few of them to link to your site, otherwise its pretty much useless.

    Hi friends,

Its been a while since I signed up but this is my first post after a while:). Anyways, better late than never.
Thanks for the idea guys, I will certainly try to use this. Its very important for people like us who have just entered into this field to get some platform through which we can gain in terms of visitors.

    Thanks,
    Dnana

Jackie, 50K is a heck of a lot in one day. :)

Everyone says that social bookmarking traffic doesn't convert
well, but there must be something we can do with it. While they
probably won't buy anything, can't they be drawn into an auto-
    responder sequence or something?

Besides the traffic which might be non converting indeed....getting a new site indexed in a few hours to days is a major thing in my book. Take a brand new site submit tags to several socialbookmarksites and do a story at digg and google and others will be knocking at the door in a flash.

I've been putting my stuff up on reddit and stumble (by the way all my logins are "raginbajin" if you want to add me as friends), they seem to only bring traffic and nothing else. It's starting to seem like a real pointless act. I mean great I have traffic but that does nothing for me if they don't click on anything.

    Hi RaginBajin,
I have not joined Stumble yet. When I’ll join, certainly add you as a friend over there. But one of my friends is a member over there and I will ask him to add you. Btw RaginBajin, there is nothing useless as I already mentioned in my post. Try out something unique and useful then check out the user behaviors.
