You cannot go with a particular assumption. Some keywords can take 3 months where as some can take over 8 months. It depends on the level of competition. If you promote a low competitive keyword you'll reach the top faster. If you promote a highly competitive keyword it will take much much longer.

Yes, I have the same thought. Normally six months must be invested for a competitive keyword. But I want to add, if you are highly ambitious and energetic, then 4 months are sufficient.

6 months seems like a fair number. Takes awhile to get bumped ahead of your competitors, especially if they're doing the same thing that you're doing.
It really depends on how much time you're spending each day SEO-ing your keywords. To get a competitive keyword to the first page of Google's Page Ranks, it definitely takes time and patience. You can't expect your keyword to blast to the first page of Google in the first week. In assumption 3 to six before you can see the result however it's still depends on the campaigns and the number of competitors.
Its not a matter depends on single thing to predict, its all about keyword competition, the person involved in work and some more factors, But it minimum need 3 months.
I think it depends on the keyword and its competition. bcoz some of the keywords are more common and has high competition with it. To optimize those type of keywords, it will take around 3 to 4 months..
