Kind of an offshot to me . Bombastic titles don't belong among the professionals - they are for people selling snake oil to noobs . When i buy something off a forum short and sweet always beats long and gargling . Also try not to annoy your customers - ask for feedback only if it is appropriate , don't annoy other webmasters .
NP It's definitely a fine balance. In a small community where your name is know, you can probably ride your reputation alone. In a large forum like DP you must content against 100's of new thread a day. Look at your signature "Best news in 10 years" - that's a bombastic title that begs people to click. Definitely not saying you should be annoying your customers, but in my case most are more than happy to leave feedback (especially because I do provide good customer service), in most cases they simply forget and don't mind the reminder. If they don't respond to my reminder, I move on!
Thanks! I can't start yet, but when I'm able to access the buy, sell, trade forum, I'll definately take this advice.
This is great advice, especially since I am about to release a product in the next few days. How many threads did you posts in the sales section so far?
I'm glad you posted this, I was going to write something myself but I've been busy with other work and haven't found the time. Perhaps you'd be interested in a joint venture where we can help others to raise the level of quality of services and tools for those who want to provide them. That's another thing you can add in there, joint ventures. Running joint venture sales threads can be invaluable, especially where some other people are putting a link to the thread in their list mail outs, on their sites, in signatures or wherever else is allowed by policies and best practices.
Great post. It always amazes me when people trying to sell something on a forum completely ignore questions or queries. With the number of views compared to the actual number of posters, you are influencing a lot of people with your lack of customer service. Thanks, DTaylor
True points except my signature example - that one links to CNN news . They don't need any promotion they already are number 1 .
What other kinds of threads would you like to see specifically? Maybe someone (or me) can write one up. Thanks The problem is that most people don't have any real world experience, and don't understand the concept and importance of good customer service. Interesting....Feel free to send me a PM to let me know what you are interested and how we can create a JV. Ha - sorry, didn't actually follow the link, just saw the anchor
