how many backlinks require for one keyword?

M on the middle way of bulding backlinks. I try to do lots of backlinks by submite articles to directory submission, but my site just stay in position #10 of the first page. So anyone know about this?

 

It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality of backlinks.

 

I agree it depends on quality. I.E. the links from high PR websites.

Further, it also depends on the level of competition so there isn't a specific figure you can count on for this.

hey you should get a backlink from High PR sites I think it is useful to high ranking.

 

As others said quality is important. If your site ranks at same position even after quality link building, your competitor must work heavy on their sites. Try competitor analysis to find their source of back links.

I checked this question carefully before and found, sometimes the new page without doing links from outer sites can reach higher results in the searching engine, while some with lots of linking works even got punished or stuck into the Google sandbox effects and lost its ranks.

So I also believe that the quantity is less important than quality. And before doing the outer seo works, check your content and pages with the eyes and consideration of your potential customers and ask yourself ' have you create something really useful for them? can you offer it with better format and make it more simple for users?' the content on your site is the key to success, while the seo works is only your assistant, you may get traffic from any proper or illogical means, but the customer will never buy something they do not like, isn't it?

 

you mean how much ？ but you need keeping making backlinks gradurally , and also you can consider other ways , like blogging , forum posts , social bookmarking , but like others said , you need consider the quality also .

 

SEO is like race where you are competing against thousands of other websites, so if you want to out run them you will have to move faster then them. In case of rankings, you will have to first analyze the backlink profiles of your competitors (not only quantity wise but quality as well) so that you can come to know how fast you have to move to out rank your competitors. So numbers are not important until you are aware about your competitors speed.
