I guess even google has guidelines. These sites, even though maybe out of date,
they have pretty much earned their right to be where they are, so domains could
be considered aged, and have been online for a long time, so they get that right.

You can not expect to put a domain online today, even with fresh content, then
beat out a site that has been online 5-10 years that has tons of backlinks; that does not mean you can not overtake that site within 1-2 years, that is possible, just keep
working on your site to improve, keep it updated, keep it fresh, then before you know it, then you will overtake that old site that has been forgotten about by its owner.

and you are right about backlinks, even if you have the highest quality of backlinks,
that is still not guranteed as they still can drop you at anytime, so maybe they
got a better offer or whatnot, and kicked you off for the better offer, who knows.

Yes, once again I have to agree with your sentiments, but in theory Google's system of providing the best content for it's searchers falls flat on it's face when it keeps these sites where they should no longer be because the information on them is so out of date, of course, were the sites to be updated by their owners then that would be different.

Actually you only need thousands of links if you are going for a highly competitive keyword.

You can rank with low hundreds for "low hanging" keywords and the best way to do that is:

    1) forum posting
    2) bookmarking
    3) blog commenting

The fastest way is to go to fiver and hire someone for links for only $5. I've used them for a site and it actually hit first page for keyword with over 1mill comp.

Depends on what you like and what you fell like doing yourself.

google is retarded. I can not even be sure they know what they are
doing sometimes...I am surprised that they just do not collapse....

Its sad to say that google is pretty much the monopoly of the internet....
so I guess they can pretty much do what they want..and get away with it....

There is no secret to link building its just hard work. If you see a site build up a lot of quality links in a short period of time, they likely have a network of sites which are interlinked.

Ok here's my own top tip of the day - Make an email template and then send it to the top 100 contact (more if possible) details you can find for your keyword asking for link exchanges. If its blogs this is usually pretty easy. You'll likely get 30 or more responses = to 30 decent backlinks. Ok you're competition gets a boost but you keep doing this and you'll soon have decent related links.

But if you send them to me I tell Google that they are spam and you risk blacklisting your domain and your email address.

You can use a couple of free sites such as SocialAdr or Onlywire to help a bit with backlinks.

You can pay someone to get you a few .EDU or .GOV backlinks. You can find these sites yourself, but the searching is just not worth my time.

For local SEO, I can usually get a page ranking quickly with less than $30.00 in quality backlink services. These are people doing what I would do myself but it is not me that has to do it.

For competitive keywords, hiring link services periodically helps, but guest blogging, quality blog commenting (on high pr and high traffic blogs) and writing articles helps a lot more. These have the added benefit of getting customer eyes on your site, which beats a spammy backlink any day.

Forum posting has the same effect if you can find good forums in your niche.

    Good Luck,
    DTaylor

Buy them. There are literally hundreds of places you can go to do this. Im only new here, but ive been at another forum since 2008 and i have purchases quality and fast links through people on the forum itself. My understanding is that this place has a buy/sell section too :) Otherwise just google it.
