Not entirely true, they care QUITE A LOT ABOUT THEIR OWN JOB.

They've proven to me and anyone else who pays a little attention that they won't compromise when it comes to taxing the top 1%.
    I wonder why?

The Government's broke and going deeper in debt every second of every day BUT the Republicans won't support closing tax loopholes or increasing taxes for the people who benefit the most from our country and economy.

If you can't afford an accountant to help you lower your tax burden then you just get screwed.
If you can then you might be able to pay no tax at all.

GE, one of the Countries biggest corporations, made big news by creatively avoiding taxes.
G.E.’s Strategies Let It Avoid Taxes Altogether
You know just about every corporation out there is poring over the documentation on this hoping to do the same thing next year.

    100% agree with you.
Government is killing jobs and 8 years of Bush Administration and the latest
Republican Congress is the best proof of that.

The way I see it, the proper role of government in job creation is to set up the best incentives possible, not to create jobs directly through bureaucracy, grants, contracts, or other spending.

Right now, there are several things the government does that provide a barrier to job creation. One of them is burdensome or overly complex regulation. However, I think the biggest barrier is the payroll tax, a about a 15% tax on all wages (between the employer and employee's share) to fund social security and medicare. Removing that tax and instead finding another tax to raise an equal amount of revenue would spur massive job creation. I think we'd be better off replacing the payroll tax with a raise to the basic income tax (applied to all income, not just the first $100K of wage income) because the total percent increase would need to be so much smaller in order to raise an equivalent amount of revenue.

In the long run though I'd like to see all income tax eliminated. I think this could be done realistically by relying on use taxes, such as a carbon tax or fossil fuel tax, and also a tax on large deposits of cash. The taxes on fossil fuel use would create incentives for conservation and technological innovations, and the tax on holding of large cash deposits would create an incentive for investment and spending on productive capital by businesses which are currently sitting on large piles of cash.

If you are interested in reading more about these ideas, including my explanations of why I think they would spark massive job creation, I invite you to visit my page on taxes. In short, my idea is that it is beneficial for us to tax in ways that create desired effects (investment, innovation, conservation) and stop taxing activities like income which punish or penalize desirable activities, like working and wealth creation.
