Aged vs New Domain

    Hi Everyone,

I will be launching an adult toys website soon. My question is i have already bought a domain adultstoysonline.co.uk but it is only 2 weeks old now.

I want to try and get up the listings sooner rather than later with the SEO so i have heard that buying an aged domain name is the way forward because it can cut out 1-2 years worth of SEO ?

I want to choose the right domain name and have seen that adultstoys.com is for sale but he wants 10 000 USD for it but the domain is 11 years old but has no current traffic.

Please can someone help me on the right method of getting the best start with choosing a domain name.

You are paying 10k for the domain value, but it would provide no real SEO benefit. The domain name is not even indexed in google, so it would be basically like starting with a fresh domain.

Yeah thats the thing this domain has no backlinks, no position but the keywords are great and domain name is short. I was also trying to think of aquiring a domain that had traffic on it at some point in it past IE: Failed business etc. But again these aint easily obtainable. If i was spending that type of money i want to buy a domain with a great starting point really ?

adultstoys.com is not as valuable as adulttoys.com . If you have 10 000$, use that money to bring targeted visitors using adwords and see the traffic is converting to sales or not. For generating keyword rich domain names for SEO, goto http://www.namestation.com/ and find available domains with the term "adult toys" or your targeting keywords.
    good luck.

    Hi Alex,

So i should just stick with my domain adultstoysonline.co.uk and spend a bit on Adwords instead. Ok it might take a little longer to rank but at least i havent spent 10k on a domain name.

I was just thinking if there was a domain name for sale with a great traffic flow then i might consider investing.

I think that price seems too high but age does add value to the domain name.

Well i got the choice of buying the domain adultstoys.com the domain was registered:

    Results for adultstoys.com :

    Domain Created on:
    November 11 1999

    Domain age (approximately):
    11 Years, 5 Months, 17 days.

How much would you realistically pay for it ? Suggestions would be great as i have not bought a domain for this sort of price before but with it being 11 years old i am sure the search engines will look more favourably towards my website when i start doing the SEO as apposed to a site that is only 2 weeks old.

register a keyword rich domain and initially go with adwords. 10000$ for adultstoys is not a good investment.

Don't think it's worth it as it doesn't have much SEO benfit.. aged is always key, but it needs a site in place too.

If you do decide to pay this kind of money for a domain, make sure that you do a blacklist check on it, if you are not buying from a reputable, well known source - or you could get burned, especially in this niche.

Stay away from that bad investment!!!

Keep your money to develop your website & traffic + buy a shorter brandable name for your store. (your keyword name will help you rank in search engines, but a more brandable one will give it an identity!)
With Adults: People will probably forget to add the "S" & you will loose lot of traffic...

    Cheers guys,

Buywise - Apparently according to adwords the keyword phrase '' adultstoys '' as one word is searched for 300 000 times globally and 27 000 locally. And the key phrase adult toy is only 74 000 globally and 4 400 locally. so it would appear from that by adding the ''S'' is certainly more searched for ? Or am i missing something ?

Instead of buying that old domain spend $1000-$5000 in SEO for the new domain.
