Making money with Associated Content?

Discussion in 'Copywriting' started by JS92, Apr 24, 2011.

I read quite a lot about Associated Content before joining it. People wrote good stuff about it that it pays good up-front money for articles and all. As I joined AC, I found out that the up-front payment is only for US citizens or residents of US.

I'm not a US citizen or a resident of US. Is it possible that I lie about my location and choose it to be US on the sign up form and not get caught?

Can somebody tell me about any other similar site that pays up-front for article submission?

    Thanks

Associated Content used to be a good place to monetize until Yahoo bought it sometime... past year? and turned worthless for non-USA based writers.

I'm at very beginner level of earning online. I'm just trying out different ways - hoping to find a working way. I'm not a writer but Associated Content looked like a nice place until I found out that they do not pay anything up-front to non-USA based people. This up-front payment was the only thing that attracted me so much. I know about Helium and Squidoo but they don't pay up-front. Anyone knows of any other websites like Associated Content that pays up-front payment for article submission?

Exactly as James says, you're much better off blogging yourself for the money and its not too hard to learn. Sign up with clickbank etc and start making money writing articles for products - once you know how you'll end up making a lot more - and in the meantime do a little content writing to keep yourself afloat

Excellent point made by James Colin and Magic Monkey.<<<I agree. I used to write for AC but as Mystique stated "they have became worthless especially since Y! purchase the company (which wasn't a surprise) and since Google changed up some things there payment has been low. I am thinking about joining textbroker. I am not sure if Textbroker works outside of the US but you can see. As MagicMonkey stated you should write your own articles and keep them. I am planning on doing this soon but I am still looking to write to make some money to keep the website going so I won't have to use money out of my pocket or at least not that much.

I understand what you mean. I am 18 years old, a college student and new to earning online. I know many different ways that one can use to make money online but I think that I cannot use those ways. Ways such as creating a blog/website and putting adsense on it. I can create a blog and I can put adsense on it but I know for sure that I won't be able to bring any traffic. I'm sure my adsense won't make a dime. At least, not without extensive research on how to bring traffic and all which will definitely take months if not years. I'm not a writer. My English not that good. I can't write professional articles that people would be willing to buy from me directly. AC seemed like a nice way for me to make some quick cash but as they only pay up-front to US citizens, I can't benefit from it. I'm fine with $4-5 for a 300 word article for now. I could write maybe 2 articles a day which means about $10 a day. For a beginner like me, that's a good amount. Once I start making about $10 a day, I can look into other ways such as adsense, clickbank etc. and learn more. Once I am earning, I will be able to buy traffic, domains, website templates etc. I hope you now understand why AC was exciting for me before I found out that they only pay up-front to US citizens.

My reply to your post is given above.

Thanks for your post. I checked out TextBroker. It's only for US residents I think. The only option available in 'Select country' in the registration form was United States.

I need all the help I can get.

In that case, you may want to check out Skyword.com, wiseGEEK.com, and DemandStudios.com. I'm not sure if they accept writers outside of the US, but they might!

(They all pay over $10 an article)

I understand perfectly well what you're saying/thinking but I see only a psychological problem from your side. You seem to believe that you can't make money by writing for yourself, or that it would take so much time and efforts that it's not what you're after.
Well I can tell you that you don't need to do ANYTHING ELSE than writing in order to attract traffic to your site/blog. This is all BULLSHIT, seriously.
But what you have to know and it's true, is what to write about.
With adsense what you want is TRAFFIC FROM WESTERN COUNTRIES, the more of it, the better.
Now to get this, there is no mystery, an easy way is to write about things that an audience from western countries finds interesting.
So you need to know what are those things interesting to that audience. For this there is a free tool called Google Insights, find it and learn it.

Then all you have to do is to produce content dealing with the most popular topics in the niches/categories you want.
If you can write 1-2 articles a day, in a month you'll have between 30 and 60.
I can tell you that by the time you'll have 50 articles, created following the method I explained above, you'll be earning between $5 and $10 everyday, even if you suddenly stop creating articles, this will grow slowly everyday.
But you don't have to stop, if you can keep on writing, think where you'll be in 6 months time.. You'll be earning much more per day, that you write or not on that particular day.

But of course you need FAITH that it will work, because the first month you'll have to more or less work for free. Not really as you'll be earning money in your adsense account, but you may think it is growing too slowly. So only faith, believing that it can only work given enough time and work, will allow you to do the required work to achieve the first goal of 50 original articles and from there you'll be fine.

Don't listen to things everywhere about the need for backlinks, SEO, etc.. look even myself in my signature I talk about backlinks, but it's simply because people believe it's important, so I play on this fact of life to attract new members, but don't believe stuff like that, you don't need them. But you can use them too when you'll have time, after the first 50 articles.. :)

    I'm sorry.

    Here's another thought...

HubPages just announced that you can make more money with them. They have a new ad program, that shows a significant revenue increase for writers (according to their test, anyway). In order to participate, you don't need to be a US citizen, but you do need to belong to the Adsense program and have a Paypal account. You could also sell Clickbank products on HubPages, but you have to be sneaky about it. :) HubPages doesn't want your entire page to be a sales pitch, but you can get around that. For example:

    1. Pick a Clickbank product
    2. Make a HubPage in that niche that provides a solid tip
    3. Advertise your Clickbank product for people that want to go further

For example, let's say I want to sell a Clickbank product about dog training. I'm going to pick one particular behavioral problem that's fairly common. In my HubPage I would completely cover that one issue, but recommend that product for people that need additional dog training. Just a thought.

Thanks a lot for all the information but I already knew all of this about adsense. If I follow it, it'll take a while before I could start making any money. At this time, I'm looking for a way to start earning cash fast. $5-10 a day, nothing more than that. Once I do that, I'll start doing stuff like creating a blog or something and put adsense on it.

I don't have an adsense account right now but I'll surely look into hubpages. Thanks.

yes it will take one month or two, and then you'll have a passive income. I'm guessing you see 1-2 months as being too long a time. It's normal the younger you are the longer time feels, but really 2 months is not much at all, time flies :)
If you want you could register at fiverr.com and offer testimonial videos, article writing, etc. If you do it today, give me the link to your gig and I'll buy you one for a testimonial video, so you're sure to make at least $5 :)
You can also promote and sell this simple service in the DP business section. I already bought 30+ testimonial videos on fiverr.

I just want to weigh in and tell you, no matter your age, etc, it is far better to try these different and creative ways to earn money online that just some company that pays peanuts and wont deal with people who live outside of their country. I take sales from ALL countries (that I can), and find it very sad that some would turn away good talent if its not from within some geo-political boundary. Good luck with your endeavors!

Yeah, and youngsters are impatient too. Lol. For a business person, 2 months is nothing. But I'm an 18 year old college student. 2 months is a lot for me. But I surely will think about start working on what you've said.

Thanks but I can't do a testimonial video. 1) I don't know how to make a testimonial video. 2) I don't have a camera. But really, thank you. Do you mind if I add you on Skype? You're very helpful. Maybe, you can be my mentor Lol. It's totally cool if you don't have the time or if you don't want. Seriously, it's totally cool and understandable :)

    Thank you :)

You can already read my blog where i don't post often, and look at my sites and posts on dp. When you have done a site/blog with the 50 first articles using google insights you can contact me again, you'll have already opened your adsense account and will be ready to grow your income faster.

If you don't have an Adsense account, that's not a problem. That's just one way to make money with Hubpages (that's how I'm making extra money with HubPages). But, here's what I would try...Find a product that you want to promote. Clickbank has a large variety of digital products, but you might want to look at Rapbank.com as well. The downside of Rapbank is that they tend to have older products, and some of the sales pages aren't as professional. However, with Rapbank, you will get immediate payments to your Paypal when someone buys! If you spend time looking at all the products there, you should be able to find one with 100% commission and a decent sales page. You could also sell your own product, if you set up a website, or offered it on Tradebit.com or Amazon Kindle. Anyway, then you Brainstorm what your HubPage will be about. For example, something in that niche that solves a small problem, the digital product should solve a larger related problem in that niche -- if that makes sense? At least, that would just be my approach -- there are probably other DPer's in this section with much more extensive knowledge in this area.

Why don't you sell your articles at article market place?
You can try DP as well. There are many people here who are interested to buy articles.
